I am rewatching pd 101 and it struck me that. Even if they catch lightning in a bottle (momo land)
Very very few kpop agencies have a clue for long term or repeated success.
And i include the big 3 in this.

SM seems to take a plan and stick with it and try and build each member into a brand of some sort. So that there are options after the group ages out for lack of a better term.
fx being the weakest even though each of the 5 had significant solo activities i think the group suffered and some members wanted a career different than the one that they ended up with.
RV as annoyed as i have been with SM each has had opportunities and have identities outside of the group.

JYP burns hot and does not seem to have an end game for the girls. And he dropped the ball on Somi for what ever reason.

YG also burns hot but sporadically and he seeks conflict. I am no expert on yg groups but I feel BP ascended despite his management.

DSP well that makes more sense as the leader with vision died.

Starship Sistar was the lightning in a bottle for them. Wjsn there.

CCM/MBK ---- also train wreck blow up a monster with just awful management and dia......

TS holy crap they are bad.

Source seems content to coast ( well and cash that big hit money)

Woollim has stuck with its girls and they have had a respectable career.

RBW - mmm is all they have atm.

Jellyfish - how do ya screw up Sejeong/ Mina / Nayoung that badly.

Cube sure soyeon has done ok but clc best that can be said is cube did not disband em.

That is not everyone but you see the pattern.

They all seem to just be throwing mud at the wall and hoping it sticks.

Girl groups are too difficult to succeed.

When I see rookie boy groups sales it's almost unbelievable in comparison.

And so many companies keep trying, and they talk in these survival shows like they had big chances of succeeding.

When they should at least see it as a gamble, which ironically is what YG does. Even when there is no need for a company that big to do like this...

Since YG management was decent this year, maybe the next girl group will be more lucky, who knows.

i stand by the claim that companies can be only okay-ish at best. i don't think there are any truly "good" companies. i definitely could be wrong but i'm constantly disappointed by management among other things. not that it's all management to blame as girl groups have short shelf lives and only a handful succeed compared to boy groups, unfortunately. so the blame is not entirely on the companies' shoulders, but mismanagement is still a huge problem.

This is why i now feel that agencies that get kids in one of these produce type groups let run as long as it can its money in the bank.
If you wanted them in a agency group A) do not send em B) hope they just miss the cut.
But even Cube has dropped the ball on Chowon using that strat.

pledis for instance has such talented groups/idols but no clue what they're doing

as much as the big 3 suck in certain areas, it's probably your best bet to debut with one of them because you won't end up without a paycheck at the end of the day (looking at ts) and you'll at the very least be one of the moderately popular groups as opposed to disbanding as a nugu which is so saddening. though sm's profit distribution is highly questionable at best actually as far as i know so... k-pop is so confusing and messy i swear.

i was against the bh merger as well. hopefully the source music artists get more attention being under the big hit name at least

My biggest fear is that JYP has no plans to develop late career TWICE.

And that they are content to milk quick shallow comebacks of diminishing returns for a year or two more ( even if contracts extend) and slowly let them fade into indefinite hiatus, without developing any auxillary careers for the members.

I fear that they are looking to NIZIU to be their next cash cow and the Prime Focus mantle will be shifted to them, to start the cycle anew.

It's as if they have no capacity nor desire to develop parallel group growth trajectories across multiple group lines nor nurture auxillary careers for other cash sources.

But instead want to single track focus on one big bread winner group for a short burst. Then find the next big bread winner group. And so on.

ITZY seems to be a FX like side project rather than the their next event.
