I saw @bulletproof 's thread about discovering K-Pop and I thought why not go a bit deeper and discover how you guys found your favorite groups.

Any special circumstances or something along those lines that led you to them?

For A.C.E, I actually realized I've known them on debut day because I saw some of the covers like Playing With Fire I used to listen in the time frame when I joined K-Pop to their debut, so I was just like "duh, 'course you like them if you liked their pre-debut stuff" lol

Word of mouth really.. That in conjunction with watching dramas that had an idol from the group [Kyungsoo] acting in it and idol from same group [Chen] in the soundtrack. I think I listened to Best Luck over 30 times in two days. lol

with my current favorite group (red velvet), i had been anticipating their debut for years, so i was there when they dropped "happiness" i found after school, my first favorite group, after i had been listening to k-pop for a few years. i was researching groups other than snsd and there they were.

i loved her immediately she's a ray of sunshine. she's been one of my favorite members ever since i've never really had problems with adding members to groups. the more the merrier imo !!

I was there when BTS dropped No more dreams, but I didn't become an ARMY until Blood sweat and tears I had a kpop hiatus before that so maybe that's why I didn't get into a lot of newer groups. But I rediscovered Jungkook and well... with him BTS

Blood Sweat and Tears is a bop I think with the release of that one they started to gain ALOT of traction leading up to where they are today

TVXQ: After hearing three songs on Pandora, I decided to listen to the latest album at that time. I liked so I did some research and found out that I already knew the former members' songs. Can't really pinpoint when I decided they were my favorite. I think after watching some fancams.

Shinhwa: I had plans to listen to them for months, so I waited for their comeback then worked backwards. I decided they were my favorite after watching their show.

for my current ults f(x) and aespa:
- f(x) was because everyone loved talking about them back then (2017), and I vaguely knew about them until one day I went into a discography binge and got converted
- aespa was in late 2016ish, when I saw pics of Yiyang and fell in love unfortunately she and Lami (my biases w ning) both left sooo... I started liking Yooji about a year after she went public, when all her ask.fm stuff was out (she’s so cute)

Some other girls in my class were into EXO around 2013 I think, I later on in like 2014 I think, thought about oh yeah... what's that one group the girls in my class used to like?

I checked them out and got into them & here I am now.... 6 years later

EXO was the first group I stanned and are my UB still and I discovered them on YouTube. I watched BOF and I listened to the OST like a million times and because of that, YouTube started recommending me random K-Pop songs (mostly SS501 and TVXQ) and then eventually I was recommended Kai's debut teaser. I was intrigued but didn't really care much until they finally debuted with MAMA which YouTube recommended on the day of release. I loved MAMA so I looked into their other songs and came across History and their bsides and I have been a fan since.

I think everybody (maybe not, but anyway) knows my favourite group is Japanese; so I'll tell you how I discovered them. Someone posted this mv on akp when it was released. I cannot tell you I loved the group instantly. That'd be a lie; but I loved the song. That was the beginning.

Well, I'll go with 2017 re-entry into K-Pop. (b/c though I listened to k-pop a lot, looking back, I wasn't so into it to call myself having an ult...though if I did it would've been SNSD).

Twice - Cheer Up was in my recs and I watched it and was like, WTF is this ish? And then it never left my brain and then bam, I'm down the rabbit hole.

BTS - the need for community (thanks to Twice) led me to AKP, where folks were trashing this group so I decided to check 'em out xD
