Well you could still argue about physicals in 2018, and despite D4 being the biggest GG hit, Twice also had hits. Not AS big but still.
This year, the only GG with hit songs other than BP is Oh My Girl and they're obviously not winning. Plus, BP outsold every girl group.

So I'll be shocked if they actually don't win anything again.

They may not even out sell everyone, the problem is they have a small (if consistently well selling ) catalogue.
Twice is well over a million sold for the year as iz one especially if they count Japan.

still bp did really well in 2018 when it came to physicals and had the biggest mini album of the year like they were 2nd only to bts who had a full album, when it comes to digital points with FOUR songs. two of those songs ended up becoming national hits... that basically never happens. they should have won girl group of the year in 2018 and record of the year...
but I understand where you're coming from, the competition was definitely more tight in 2018, but this year belongs to Blackpink, it would be shameful for any other group to win in female categories. but you never know...

I get being upset that they didn't win but it's actually pretty disgusting of you to imply that other groups should be ashamed of winning an award from there and that they're charity awards just because your faves got snubbed. There was literally no need for that. Yes, BP did deserve an award, but it's South Korea, and you said yourself they haven't attended in 4 years, so who knows what's going on behind the scenes. We all know companies get into petty spats and it affects groups.

That said, every awards show has an eligibility period, what they count as their "year" in music. Blackpink only got the first week sales record last month, which, depending when it was certified, may have been after their cutoff period. Which would mean that, for the time frame considered, they were factually correct to call IZ*ONE the group with the highest first week sales. That's how all awards shows work and it doesn't mean they don't recognize that accomplishment, it just means it wasn't eligible for inclusion that year.

also, bp does promote in Korea and America equally, and two of their biggest hits this year have been their Korean songs, not their English songs. that argument is just stupid. bts hasn't promoted in korea since 2017 and they're still sweeping the awards at Korean award show. blackpink is not known as an "American group", they're main appeal is that they are a kpop group. they've never claimed they were anything other than kpop.

so you agree? AAA is biased against bp because of the company they come from and because they didn't want to go to their award show?? and I don't think i ever said it was a charity award (even though it is) I said it was an attendance award. which is true, AAA has been making up categories for the past few years so basically, every group that attends gets an award. id argue that their daesangs should realistically have no meaning considering they've been just making up new ones every single year in an attempt to appease fans. I said that I would be embarrassed, not that other groups should be. big difference. nowhere did I insult any group over winning at the awards, just calling out the stupid bias that award shows like AAA has against bp. there's nothing "disgusting" about the truth.

Award shows are, in part, supposed what was popular within the country, what was successful and who did well with in the year. They've always been heavily dependant on sales. Even if you bring up the quality argument, I'm not seeing or hearing anything that puts them below the other groups (however one determines quality of a group)

Lovesick Girls, HYLT, ON, Dynamite and Black Swan are the most successful songs released this year. Mots7, HYYT, and The Album have incredibly high Hanteo sales
