It's when people say things like "you aren't a true fan if x" or "you aren't allowed to use x if you're not y". Basically deciding who is and isn't able to belong to a certain group. Within the LGBT community sometimes people gatekeep by saying that bi people aren't lgbt if they are in a heterosexual relationship which is ridiculous obviously.
