Why don´t people like Amber Liu? (3 Viewers)

I know zero to nothing about (f)x, but I have seen Amber´s video where she is with almost all the kpop boy groups and everyone was loving her like crazy. People got envious and I am not surprised. Everyone treated her like a best friend and everyone was so relaxed.
But I have also seen some random comments about her and they were kind of passive aggressive like "everyone except Amber" etc.

So I was like .... give me the tea.
Is she less cool than what I have thought?

I follow Amber on yt; and she's somehow a favourite of mine precisely because she used to relate very well with the boys.

sigh* .. In my personal opinion people really took the situation way too far.
Originally a year or two ago she made a comment on a video that popped up where a black man was being brutalized by police (though its been just as long since I've seen it, I don't remember the details tbh) The guy in the video was cursing at the cop and Amber said something like "Well what did he expect? you can't talk to cops like that" She might have said he deserved it, I really do nOt remember so don't quote me on the details.
And none of that is uhhhhh smart to say.. for obvious reasons.. But she apologized and admitted that she didn't know shit about the racial climate in the US right now. And I do get get that. It was stupid, she knew that and she educated herself.. but people couldn't move on.

Then this year when protests were at their peak and That cop was finally getting charged, she made an ill informed comment saying they should raise the degree of the murder charge. I don't remember all the legal talk, but something about the stipulations in raising the degree would have nOt helped the case. And she was spreading uninformed information on her huge platform so people were angry. But again she apologized, pretty sure she took the tweet down and everything. But the hate got SOOOO bad, people were calling for her to get canceled, people were spreading rumors about her. She even had to come out against this stupid rumor that she was pregnant or some shit. It was ridiculous.

Amber is human, and yeah shes fucked up a couple of times but I don't think anyone deserves the kind of hate people throw her way. Even if people don't like her, or don't wanna forgive her, they could just unfollow and move on instead of trying to ruin her livelihood and her sanity. I'm all for giving people room to grow and learn, if we can't do that then what's the point? Half the damn planet is bigoted but we won't get anywhere if we just cut people out before trying to educate them

Amber was the original social butterfly of kpop. EVERYONE was friends with Amber. Just check out her debut music video "Shake that Brass" and see all the celebrities she got to appear in it.

But this is kpop. All it takes is one tiny mistake and everyone turns on you.

I don´t stan either, but I have seen some older vids and I admire her social capabilities. She made everyone being friends with her, even the biggest introverts were offering hugs and that is something.

As everyone said, Amber has made some mistakes, but there's really no reason for people to continue to hate her. She gets a lot of flak for being outspoken and actually giving her opinions, but honestly it's refreshing for an idol to actually have the balls to speak openly about their opinions, even if they're wrong sometimes.
