Groups that are talented but are "bland" (2 Viewers)

Hmm interesting, but tbh for me with the groups I have this "bland" problem with it isn't about the music for me. Quite often I even like their music....

Ofc there are also groups whose music I don't like and quite a lot of them new ones.... That's including the likes of txt and ITZY, but at least ITZY I don't actually find bland (Can't say that about txt, haven't looked into the members at all tbh) I just don't care for their music/concept. The members themselves are distinct, recognizable and with clear seperete concepts

Ah sorry, that's what I meant in terms of musically too. I sort of wanted to group the concept and everything with that. But I get that, I like Itzy members - I just can't seem to find myself ... interested. I don't know how to explain it

Yeee, when I say bland I mean mostly the performances and the members images and concepts (not talking about the concept the group has, but each individual member) A lot of groups these days tend to have a lot of members that perform very similarly and have quite similar images.

I think I'm in a similar situation with ATEEZ, as you are with ITZY. I love their songs, I love their performances I think the members all seem... fine! But none of them stick out to me as a potential bias y'know. Ateez seems amazing in every way, but I can't get into them.

Visuals aren't a personality, they just aren't. Cute CAN be a personality, but it isn't easy to pull off

It's hard to explain but ig trying to look delicate?
Like some idols act like being perceived as pretty is their goal 24/7. They don't act naturally

And it's like yeah you can (and honestly should) play into your visuals! Jeonghan is the Pretty devil, looks innocent and beautiful af, but is actually a little devil. He knows how to act all pretty, but he also has things going on BEYOND that y'know!

Visuals should be a PART of the image, but not the entire thing y'know. The other part of what you do aka how you act, should be JUST as big of a part if not a bigger part of your image.

Which is super weird to me. Visuals/Dancers were supposed to be the ones to draw people in with personality if nothing else.

I hate to do the "back in my gen" thing but damn 2nd gen did not care at all. Girl's Day, Kara, Soshi, T-ara were all hilarious. Even Big Bang and Shinee

I think it's a view people get when they are starting to suffer from burnout and begin to get a jaded perception on stuff as a result which I do have myself but I don't think things have really changed that much in Kpop since I got into it to call it justified.

tbh most 3rd-4th gen groups suxx lol, only few would sing live that you could actually differentiate their live vocals from the backtrack. that's why having adlibs during performances is good

it's just the same concept every time, for me at least they scream "mid tear", they're popular enough where they can get by but nothing they release ever gets them past that level because it's kind of the same thing every time.

they're all talented but they just don't have anything unique compared to the other 3rd gen bgs and even some 4th gen bgs who are doing their concept better.

Honestly gotta disagree here, quite a few groups have been debuting with great vocals in recent times, who also sing live! Also 3rd gen sux? You ARE aware groups like EXO, Mamamoo, Red Velvet and BTOB are 3rd gen....

Don't ya worry I wasn't talking about ANY of them lmao! If I was calling out groups for not being funny EXO would be in damn TROUBLE!
Personality isn't exactly being funny y'know!

You can still pinpoint each members concept really well in all those groups without there being overlap. Each member is interesting in her own way and brings something new and different to the group. They are all distinct from the get go. You don't need to be a big fan to be able to tell them apart and to know what their "thing" is
