The thing is, racism as a social construct is taught. Nobody is born racist. I personally don't find it offensive when someone imitates my accent. It really is no different than an American putting on British accent and vice-versa. Those are not considered offensive, but any other country whose native language is not English is. Why is that so? Because we as a society made it that way.
