Used to rely on them during my teens. Now my cycle is pretty irregular and I don't cramp. I just get this really achey, comfortable feeling

When I'm on my period, I try to avoid pain killers as much as possible. I usually use a heating pad and take a warm shower to relieve cramps; it works really well.

But in severe cases, absolutely. Ibuprofen is the way.
