Do you think romance is all the media hypes it up to be? I've personally never been in a relationship and I've always seen it to be described as insanely incredible.

Is love really that good?
I need to know so I don't get my hopes up. :nekoshy:

Nah-it ain't that amazing I mean it is GOOD and GREAT but there are a lot of hard things to deal with...and it can make you feel bad. Also being i love usually makes you realize how fucked you are too so that's also another thing.

if healthy and truly deep, it is beautiful. Romantic love is only one form of many and i believe they all are incredible in very similar ways when healthy. Often people have extremely unhealthy or shallow views of love, but hell even they enjoy at least something about it i suppose lol whether it is infatuation or the physical part or whatever.

I think it depends on the couple, for me it is romantic in a non typical way like you'd see in a drama. Couples just find different things to be romantic. Some people find long walks on a beach with a deep convo to be romantic, some don't prefer that type of activity.

If you want a super fantastical and romantic relationship then i think one of the ways is to find someone who also wants that same kind of relationship, if you want a more casual more chill kind of relationship then look for someone who wants that

I'm not a romantic in the slightest, like all that movie romance stuff is just cheesy to me but I've had good loving mutual and respectful relationships.
From some it can feel like the movies but for others It can be more simplistic just being around some you care about and cares for you.
Love is complicated It can feel good but you can also lose sight of what other aspects go into a relationship, relationships don't run on love alone, sometimes thinking it does can lead to toxic relationships for some.

Isn't it a good thing to see your flaws so you can work on yourself?

that's the thing is t hat some people actually like those types of things and some are like oh t hat's awkward that's funny. imo you have to find a best friend before you find a partner, someone who matches and also complements you well

even better is to find someone that likes walks + finds them funny at the same time so you can both intimately cringe together.

Nah idt it's anything like in the movies.
For me it's really just having someone that you're completely comfortable around that you can be vulnerable to and vice versa.
The movies hype up grand gestures and romance too much and I think that it isn't very realistic. Cause in real life, the story doesn't just end after one grand gesture or a couple of romantic moments, you have to be relatively stable and good to someone every day.

It can be but it can also scare the shit out of you and make you less confident in yourself. It's almost made me walk away before because I don't think my flaws are easy enough to fix or deal with for my boyfriend. Like I said I mostly have great moments and feel happy as fuck but there are a lot of moments that aren't shown in movies and shit.

Totally agree. In order to love someone you pretty much make yourself vulnerable and at risk to be hurt. So it’s not always lovey dovey.

It would depend. Lets get out of the headspace that a romantic relationship will remain like that of a Katherine Heigl movie beyond the first year (if you're lucky). There are a few spaces you could step into. First, you lose the passion and emotional connection and you only remain in the relationship for specific reasons (e.g. Family, Religion). Then there's when you have the emotional connection and commitment, but lack passion. Its still a relationship, but the intense sexual spark has faded. This isn't that bad, but happens often. There's also the chance you could get into a relationship that is over before it starts. You are so in love and then you find out the relationship has literally nothing grounded in it. But ultimately people want a relationship that is both emotionally close and committed, while also maintaining romantic passion continuously as one progresses throughout the relationship.

Extreme highs and lows, when it's great, you feel there's nothing that could stop you. You find joy in every little thing, you feel grateful for your existence, despite having a bad day, you get through it perfectly okay and happy coz you have that someone.

When it's bad, it's terrible lol. Anything that remotely reminds you of that person or triggers an unwanted memory could send you into a spiral.

But I'll say everyone needs to experience it once, despite the potential heartbreak and sadness. When you're in love and it's good, it's a special kind of feeling that can't really be duplicated by anything else. Even with the risks, it's worth it.

Past the honeymoon phase, it's a lot of effort and commitment tho, not everyone is ready for it. Sometimes you learn as you go along, sometimes you regret ever stepping into a relationship after finding out you were not prepared at all.
