It's a nice idea in theory, but it's way too difficult to keep track of imo since they will need to be manually checked by cards team members.
The cards team already seems to be drowning in card requests every day so adding all these new requirements + the possibility of an extra card every day might be a bit much. I think they need to figure out a way to somewhat automate the system before they add new requirements.

automating system would be nice yes
but not even sure if thats possible on a forum
though xenforo is professional enough to pull it off i guess if a good coder comes along

i do understand where you coming from BUT
there truly is an endless possiblity of what people can talk about
kpop or non kpop related
so i don't think its THAT unfair as you think it is
i mean for example

if i post; blackpink, why are they called blackpink
and another afterwards posts; shinee, why are they called shinee

its the same yet it is not the same
the shinee thing has never been posted before for example
so like
you can go on and on with that
no need to fear people run out of shit to post honestly

That's easy for you to say but a good bunch of users can BARELY come up with 3 thread ideas a day. I had to make a master post to try and help people out because I had multiple friends struggling with it. It makes the game more disadvantageous than anything and puts way too much work onto the card team.

I have a good feeling that some users would start to just get frustrated with the system more so than some do now because they can't get that extra card because of an inability to hop on at the right time and get an idea out before others do, or when others take all the good ideas and so on and so forth. I think it would take the lighthearted atmosphere out of it entirely and make it more cutthroat which I'm not about that at all.

given that it is already difficult for some people (including me ngl) to come up with threads, with more rules regarding the creativity of the topics we will still end up with random sh*t sooner or later

i am sympathetic towards the struggle for sure, even though i personally do not have the same problem
but even though you and others like @Lovely_Cornchips think its unfair etc
but i think another thing is unfair...
people got rewarded 1 card for posting not much content and people get rewarded 1 card for posting waaaay more content and you see a good difference often where people actually do try to make good threads and people just posting SOMETHING to get the tasks over with
you can tell when people put effort in and when not

btw i am not saying this for myself but for everyone
there is plenty of people who put in A LOT of effort for their daily tasks and i just think that deserves to be appreciated even more and could be rewarded more
and doing something ''like this'' could increase people to motivate themselves more to go for quality aside from doing random as well

but an idea to promote more quality content and people getting more rewards for putting in more effort

how about giving people an option to gain more than just 1 card a day?
how would that create more quality content? simple

give people 2 cards a day by cracking up the requirements like for example;
if you manage to create 3 threads about 3 subjects that have never been posted before you get 2 instead of 1
and if you do the above + all of your 20 posts contain at least 50 or something words, you can earn yourself 3 cards a day


sounds difficult? not really
people CAN use the search function and on xenforo it is easy enough, not a difficult search system
and by using the search function you can easily find out if something has been asked or talked about yet

this will increase activity perhaps even more, gives people even more of a rewarding feeling, fills the forum with less duplicate threads aka making it less random messy type of vibe around here that @Drew_B and others are not super fan of and i say they make sense...
and people actually then get rewarded for real good hard effort even though it is not really that hard at all but at least people then have a reason to put more effort into their posting which a lot do not do for their tasks, including myself SOMETIMES because i was like wtf imma slack too as a lot of others do too most of the time by posting not much at all and still getting rewarded for spammy like content sometimes

and these ideas is just to add... so like people can still earn 1 card a day by doing the default
but if they wanna level up more quickly , make them work for it
and it also benefits the forums , gaining more quality content at the same time, hopefully anyways

Yeah this wouldn't really work.

The main thing being.... it's too much work. The cards team is already quite behind with the cards often and your idea would basically triple if not quadruple the time it takes to process one request.

Not to mention remaking threads isn't really that big of a problem. Sure if the same thread is made like.... 2-3 days after it was last made it's shitty, but that doesn't happen often. There is also the question of how you would check for the overlapping threads, bcs you can word the same topic in very many different ways.

Yes atm people can get by making quite low effort threads, but any "quality" control beyond counting out spam could very quickly start to discourage people from participating at all.

Overall I feel like you really don't understand how much time it takes to give out cards and how much longer it would take if we implement your ideas.

You see it may be unfair in your eyes now but what you are speaking of is way more unfair in my opinion. Not to mention the amount of shit it would add to the card team's plate that is already pretty full. What you want to do is something that I think would greatly discourage people from participating in the card game because it would be more unfair because it would basically be first come first serve, only the super creative and talkative ones get the advantages and more.

That makes an unlevel playing field. With everyone getting one card a day that doesn't happen.

ALSO a good post isn't about word count. I could post a question I want answered that creates a lot of discussion, but the original thread itself isn't that wordy. I could also write 100 words of basically nothing. AND once again... this would pump up the time to process each and every thread so much more.

Disclaimer before I start, this isn't an official response from cards team, this is just my personal thoughts~

I think you have some good ideas in theory but I think in practice it would just be impossible. Yes it's easy for users to search and check if a thread has been done before but for cards team it would just be too much time and work to check every single person's threads. There are often times where card requests get backed up because we can't all be online all the time and the other day I spent 50 minutes getting through all the requests at the time, I think if I had to check all the thread topics as well to see if they were done then that time could at the very least double.

I also don't really like the idea of setting boundaries to what threads are quality and which ones aren't. I think there are a lot of threads where you can put in very minimal effort but if it strikes up a discussion then it's a good thread, there are also threads where you can literally put your heart and soul into it and get 0 comments and that also qualifies as a good thread. It's also the same with comments, even if you barely say anything, if you say something that perks up discussion or answer's the OP's question then it's a good response and you don't always need to write that much to have a good response to whatever topic was posted.

I personally don't think duplicate threads are a huge problem for cards team, as long as they're reported then mods can catch them and merge them so they won't count towards a person's quest. Also if someone accidentally remakes a thread thats already been done before but the original thread is really old anyway I think that's absolutely fine, they might actually be adding something new to the discussion. Also I think even if they did post whatever they wanted to say in the old thread (if they realised it existed) it would still be much harder to revive the old thread since a lot of people would notice it's an old thread, probably a lot of people in there wouldn't be active anymore, and people would just be less likely to revive the discussion in the old thread compared to if someone just made a new thread. That's not to say go ahead and start copying old threads but I don't view it as an issue if someone accidentally does something that's been done before, especially if they add their own thoughts to it and make it their own~

Not really upset, it's just that you are looking it from the view of a user, not a staff member and these viewpoints can be quite different! A lot of the points you mentioned have also been discussed and discarded by us in the past.

I agree with @eclipsoul @Lovely_Cornchips @Mangoey @Yili about the fact that this idea will mean a lot more work for Cards Team to check threads and count the words of all comments before handing out another card. They do a lot already.

I get that you want more effort and think it's unfair that those that don't put much in get the same reward... But most people don't have the time to make big creative threads and just want to share a video with fans and hopefully engage in convo that way. Doesn't really need to be more than that as it's content people enjoy.

I don't think "quality/effort" is something to compare. At the end of the day, those that put in effort and make big threads with a lot of thought, that's up to them and something they did in their own time. It shouldn't mean that they get extra cards for that effort. I'm sure we all appreciate those threads, but some people really don't have time to do that and that's okay.
