the reason all ggs are doing girl crush is because all these clout starved companies want to be able to brag about being popular in the western market smh ive had enough!! the same concept over & over is boring also kpop only has 2-3 more years TOPS being relevant in the west anyways

Trying to expand into different markets isn't seeking "western validation", that's just a phrase that was made up to disparage groups who found popularity abroad. Basically every company, not just entertainment companies, seek to expand. It's a normal business practice.

Very true. It's the same thing as people getting mad at people for "clout chasing". If I was an influencer I would clout chase too, it's part of the business baby.

Influencers are the bottom of the barrel and I'd not compare a bunch of attention whores to actual businesses. Influencers are just clout chasers and don't deserve a damn thing. Companies, though, can't really "clout seek" because they're a business operating like a business. Ngl this whole thread just seems like a lot of whining because ggs are doing a concept the OP is sick of. There's no merit to the argument at all.

I'm not really against clout chasing if it's ethical. For example, the gorilla glue hair lady kept milking the situation out even though the ER offered to operate on her for free. She wanted the money, she saw the opportunity, and she took it. Everyone wants money, influencers and businesses alike. Honestly both are usually super unethical so they both suck, and I say this as someone who plans on being a business person.

And I'm gonna have to agree that wanting to branch out has, and always will be a thing. They're just doing what's trendy with the biggest market. Also keep in mind that this concept of "western validation" is not specific simply to kpop, this is literally nearly every Asian country (coming from an Asian). People have always been impressed with the West as it's seen as a big market. Most KPOP trends come from the black community in the West as well, so it's not like "western validation" is just coming out of the blue.
