This is a rant and vent, but i literally cant anymore. I didnt want to do thread about this i thought it was small issue that would die on its own. But no pretty much worst happened at least in my perspective.

I hate cancel culture. I hate term "idol". I hate entitled fans of any culture who think they have right to be offended at everything. I hate when plp applaud forced apologies.

How can there be joy in kpop when everything is controversy? Its nth else these days. I dont really have fav artists left they all disbanded... I dont know it used to feel so innocent and fun but that feels so long ago.. Now everyone is criminal or cancelled for no reason. We literally cant have anything fun.

He was off stream playing with some friends and made joke about another male player being sugar daddy and made sexual gesture in game. Someone shared clip on twitch, korean fandom translated it and made it to be misogynist and brought up comfort women. Someone tried to explain them its not misogynist term in USA and common joke. Jae first explained it as cultural difference and even joked with friends how he cant say or do anything. But it just got more attention. I feel like JYP forced him to choose between day6 or streaming.. or didnt give him choice and shut it down.

JYP is rly bad at defending artist i feel like they almost always sccept any criticism to keep up image of being clean company.

But Jae has had lot of issues within jype. Even before this he said how he feels like black sheep and when he visits company building he gets looks. That lot of artist have asked him on twitter dms if he heard the song they submitted for jyp to collab with jae and jyp not even telling him someone wanted to collab with him. He gets mistreated so badly there and now this, he cant even build his own career...

I think the issue is more of translation and what sugar daddy was translated to having different meaning in korea.

But it rly blew way out of portion. He wouldnt have deleted his twitch unless he felt forced to. He was just wishing for sub button and submitting his own skin to his fav video game as twitch drop. He made so many new friends and played with biggest twitch streamers. Sigh he lost so much with this and all upcoming things he had planned would been so much fun.

its annoying really.. To me this trivializes real issues and feels more like a face saving technique. And becomes further compounded when you consider the importance of status in SK... Giving "faux" apologies seems to be commonplace everywhere and does nothing except to mitigate risk. I understand JYP; he is a businessman and is and should be after his bottomline, but in light of how this has become common place, it seems rather plastic.

I really don't get why JYP aren't cashing in. They can see his popularity, but it's almost as if it's the wrong popularity if you get what I mean. JYP never tapped into GOT7's popularity in the west either despite having numerous English speaking idols and it bit them, which is I bet what will happen with Day6.

That sucks. I’m not necessarily their fan but you can tell how much Jae cares about both his members and his streaming so it’s really a shame he had to give up something so important to him. I’m not really sure what he might have done but Jae always gets mistreated by JYP or “cancelled” for something wasn’t even offensive so I’m assuming this is the case as well. I hope he either changes his mind about streaming or finds a better company tbh. I mean I love Day6’s music and I want them to stay together but Idk what it is with JYP and boy groups but they just never manage them well.

I think cancel culture is worldwide pandemic. But this is more of kpop issue for me. If he wasnt kpop idol it wouldnt became such issue. The standard which kpop idols are held for id insane.

Yep. He had to literally beg with JYP to even promote his podcast that he now does with AlexA, and even then they do it half heartedly. September next year is when Day6's contracts are up for renewal, I can't wait for his freedom tweets.

Its faraway but at least its coming. I dont see them having plan for him while other members are in army anyways. I hope he can sign up to smaller company like 88rising or aomg where he would be appreciated and could have more control over his career.

Yeah with bands it's difficult when you factor in the military. JYP will throw him in the dungepn no doubt, so yeah I hope somebody like those companies that can give him freedom takes him. He's not even asking for a lot from JYP which is the worst part.

Yup. I honestly hope JYP lets him go after next comeback. If they have nth to give him to do im sure they can end his contract on mutual agreement before its time.

I just saw this on Reddit, seems pretty wild. Apparently the Korean term and context makes it a lot more misogynistic but
a. Idk if that was the accurate translation
b. He wasn't using that word in that context- he was talking to American friends and used a term which is pretty harmless in that culture, so stretching it to make it mean like he was saying something else is just
