I used to write some fanfics myself before I knew they were fanfics, mine were based on anime rather than books though so I’m positive they are way too cringey for the average person to handle!

I know, I feel bad about them spending so much money on me, but I think they were honestly just happy that I liked reading.

My mom threw me every single classic, series, encyclopedia, almanac during my early youth. And I only ended up reading like... 20% of them. But I started genuinely enjoying the "fun" books starting @ 8 years old. Like this:

Nancy Drew and Archie Comics were my top reads. Both iconic. I also used to borrow some Sweet Valley High (and Goosebumps) stuff from the library. Oh and later in elementary was:

Oh and did any of you ever read Amelia Bedelia books? Berenstain Bears?

Good on your mom for getting you into some classics, even if you only read a fraction. I’m glad you found stuff you enjoy!
I liked those older books like Nancy Drew, mysteries in general are always a fun read.

During the summer i would ride my bike to the library and check out the maximum(20 ) i believe.
before that mom had to drive me there.
Each week.
OFC Hardy boys/ Tom Swift/ Encyclopedia Brown/ Arthur Hitchcock investigates.
Louisa may Alcott, and the rest of the classics. Old Yeller where the red fern grows ect.
I read biography's/ and mythology of regions (Hawaii Norway ect )like they were candy.
Sports books (little league type across all sports)
Fantasy explosion started with the first books i ever bought because the library was out of the book i needed. The LOTR box set.
paper route money.

now i have like 4-6 copies most collector eds.

Victor Attwatter i loved him outdoor stories (like being a smoke jumper)
Teens more sci fi fantasy and adventure Alistair MacLean , Robert ludlum , the lawyer guy.... John Grisham
lol i read alot
now i basicly stick to sci fi epic fantasy and adventure /thriller.
