Not gonna say I'm disappointed. MV is ethereal, SM really knows what they are doing when it comes to visual. Song sounds like an unfinished demo for some reason. Especially the pre-chorus and the chorus. The bridge that was introduced instead of the second chorus was unexpected but it's the best part of the song. Nice hommage to I Got A Boy with genre switching.

I liked it except for the sudden random transition IGAB style or Rising Sun style.
The verses are pretty catchy, I can't say I love it just yet but pretty solid. Best of the 3 songs released today.

Black Mamba is now among my favorites, Idk if this song will surpass it but I'm gonna add it to my playlist.

The sudden random genre switching shifted the song from i dont understand to more my taste, so at least i could fathom the later parts of it. The beginning put me off at first listen but now i might be used to it. Need to process the different parts/vibes as its not cohesive a whole for me. Overall i love the latter part, still need time for the beginning/whole. Positive reaction overall from me.

After Suju's House Party and now this, it looks like SM/Yoo Youngjin is going all in for random breakdowns during songs

Next Level is a real disappointment of a song that only doesn't completely break all the faith I have in aespa because of it being a remake even if SM said they injected aespas colour into it.

Some of the parts were so jarring to me that I couldn't even really enjoy the very very few parts that I thought were nice and not just noisy and I don't see me ever listening to this again.

It's not bad. But like everyone else has said already, the song is all over the place. Not sure why it's structure as such and tbh the whole "remake" from an OST is strange.

Hopefully with aespa's rumoured full album SM can actually put effort into establishing aespa's sound and deliver original songs for them.

'Next Level' is a grower I guess and I'm sure I'll like it more with more listens after I get used to each vibe/part of the song lmao.

My first impression was that the song was really a long intro to the Aespa universe. Almost like a movie teaser/trailer. It felt unfinished (as you said) possibly because there's more to come.
