    wow interesting to say the least lol

    Australia can be a very expensive city to live in if one doesn't have the resources especially for a foreign student such as yourself
    we all drive here but public transport is pretty good where I am (I'm over west instead of the east)
    I can see a lot of foreign students not fitting in but normally it's the asian students (or at least they associate amongst themselves)

    so that's the Japanese connection - when do you plan on going to Japan?
    speaking of cultures I take that's also the reason you got into kpop and korean culture?

    If you didn't already know I'm Chinese ethnically and was born there and came to Australia when I was really young so I can understand why you would be drawn to Asian cultures
    why not study chinese my friend? lol
    yeah there are a lot of Chinese down under - here along with Canada and the US are some of the major immigration spots

    I will be getting my visa eligibility paperwork results on February 24th Japan time, so assuming all goes well with that then I will be going on March 20th of this year.

    I got into K-Pop purely based of off Gangnam Style and YouTube suggestions actually. Where in China are you originally from? I was debating hardcore between Korean, Chinese, and Japanese and Japanese was just the cheapest even though having 4 of my flatmates being Chinese would've helped me practice Mandarin but 3/4 were native in Cantonese (also what dialect is your native?) and the other was a native Mandarin speaker. Chinese is definetely the next language that I want to learn after I accomplish Japanese.

    ahhh well for me it was YT and D4 right before KTL dropped in 2019 so I guess overall I'm still a fairly new kpop fan in the grand scheme of things
    although technically D4 wasn't the first kpop song I heard - it was nobody from the wonder girls when I was playing DDR but I never realised that it was a kpop song until much later
    Guangzhou - 2 hours away from HK if you sorta know where that is - which is why I can speak both cantonese and mandarin since Guangdong (the province was previously called Canton in the west)

    Have fun my friend since it can be hard for a non native speaker to learn it but how is your japanese coming along there are a lot of similarities and similar characters lol

    It went well, I learned a lot about what going on my city for the better and worse. We're now on Southside Chicago levels of violence, 168 active separate gangs in a city of 208K and we now have for the first time inter-gang violence within the Hispanic community. On more positive notes we talked about affordable housing opportunities, free ESL class access for new immigrants, literacy programs, and the success of violence interupters. Shit is going downhill because my city doesn't want to address the problems that have been going on since the 90s and its getting worse as white flight set in to the Northside of the city in 00s. I'm happy to being involved within different organisations that are working to change that though~

Our Story
KpopSource began as a small blog called ksource, created by a dedicated K-Pop fan known as @Sourcekeeper. Frustrated by the decline of welcoming, discussion-driven communities, she set out to build something different — a space where fans could talk, connect, and stay for the long term.

Over time, that simple idea grew into the community you see today. While platforms and trends have changed, the goal has remained the same: to give K-Pop fans a place that feels familiar, human, and worth returning to.
