Usually in a thread but I have also done RPGs through PMs (for fun),

With forum board RPGs, users would "claim" characters (like from anime or a cartoon), and we would have interactions as those characters with a set storyline (either related to show or a AU *alternative universe*). Also, users can create their own characters for these RPGs.

Most of them were just people being busy even though there was one online friendship was ended up in fighting and later on being busy with life (this friendship was the reason why I gave up on forum RPG *Roleplaying Games*).

I want to say ethnicity, cultural (regional cultural to be exact), and probably hobbies on a lighter note.

I went through several online and in-real life friends... We eventually drifted apart.
