I used to back in 2013 proudly tell the world I am a kpop fan.

I'm a huge kpop fan I like this group tvxq suju exo 4minite kara tara you know you know.

But this new wave of bts twice blackpink red velvet I just honestly never want to tell anyone I'm a kpop fan.

I'm basically a boxing fan and a rugby fan. Okay so I like kpop ofc I do you know I do but I'm in my sports mode I'm watching the game then looking at the hashtag its literally something like 'boxerAvsBoxerb' it's a custom made hashtag for this fight. You click on and you see people like 'I got him winning' 'terrible ref' then you got this random ass video of Chaeyong solo fancam with the hashtag???? And then I'm like okay that's just one idiot spamming but I keep scrolling and then see another then another then I'm like what the fuck.

This is coming from a kpop fan I love me some Chaeyong ok well not really her but sana hell yeah but there's a time and place?? And they even make smart remarks I reply them saying, 'why are you posting twice on a sports hashtag?' Then they're like 'why are you here then stream feel special' I'm like wtf?? You're the one abusing and spamming the hashtag

With absolute literal irrelevant perfomance. Its just a useless lipsynced sloppy ass dancing fancam.

I dont understand what's going through their minds. More people will be turned off EVER watching that thing they there will viewing and checking it out. I'm all for spamming kpop but it really needs to be done properly you cant just annoy the fuck out of the whole world spamming solo fancam videos. Its not even the mv just literally a solo fancam of some terrible dancing.

I'm neither proud nor embarassed I guess, there's good and bad things about it... I like that I'm able to enjoy something maybe not so typical for a lot of people, but at the same time, the kpop industry is often a crazy and toxic thing that I don't want to get involved with too much.. basically I just casually enjoy what it offers without thinking too much of it

A. because I don't want THOSE kpop fans to find me and obsessively try to chat with me. I've encountered enough koreaboos and embarrassing toxic fans in school

It's just kpop. Pop music in another language. Nothing too weird or shocking. I am not going to be embarrassed for listening to and talking about what I enjoy, but what would be embarrassing is the industry itself and the fandoms. Fandoms are getting worse every year. To be honest I do use fancams as well but I don't spam them to the point where it puts off non kpop listeners and make them dislike it more. They see kpop fans as a different breed.

Yeah it's really annoying to spam them, especially in non-related hashtags which is even against the twitter rules.

Also, people's irrational dislike towards kpop has to do with racism and the fact that westerners see any non western media as a joke, and those kpop fans literally contribute to that by turning those people off. But that's not today's tea.

I don't think liking a certain type of music makes me proud in any way. I used to be embarassing to admit to liking kpop because of all the toxicity surrounding it. I only use twitter to update on artists threads so I'm not too familiar with kpop fans spamming on unrelated hashtags but I've heard a lot about it. There aren't many of them but they stand out because they're the loudest and it the first thing you notice about the kpop fandom which gives us a really bad image.

I used to be self conscious about it online and irl but it's gotten to the point that I no longer care. I'm fine being part of a hated fandom when I'm listening to something I actually enjoy.

I just laugh at dumb K-pop fans online and move on, most of them get blocked anyways on my Twitter, since I'm not going to deal with fancam spammers and other trash on unrelated topics. If anything, these people should feel embarrassed, I've no reason to feel embarrassed, K-pop might be niche but it's still music and I don't see other people feeling embarrassed about genres that aren't K-pop. (Can you imagine my metalhead dad being embarrassed about listening to metal?). I think a lot of prejudice from outsiders comes towards the obsession with it, and not what you listen, anyways, so it shouldn't matter. Just ignore these people and let them make fools out of themselves if they want but don't associate yourself with such people. As simple as that.

Depends on who i'm saying it to i guess. In general a bit i guess, not only kpop but being pop fan is kinda embrassing in Finland. There is lot of metal heads who think hard rock is only good music around. I think i'm most used to just stating rock bands i listen unless the plp seem like one's that actually like stuff like kpop as well.
