The 2019 Rugby World Cup will be the ninth Rugby World Cup, and is to be held in Japan from 20 September to 2 November. This will be the first time the tournament is to be held in Asia, and outside the traditional heartland of rugby union.

The opening match of the 2019 Rugby World Cup will take place at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Chōfu, Tokyo, and the final match will be held at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The Group A match between Ireland and Japan on the 28th September should be an interesting affair in my household.... I will be rooting for an Irish victory whilst the wife will be rooting for a Japanese victory :pandatea:

And of course I will be rooting for Ireland to go the whole way and win the world cup. We are currently ranked #1 in the world!!!!!

It's the first time my country does not participate, unfortunately, not because we didn't qualify but because we got some penalties apparently bc of ineligible players. I'm not that much into rugby to know if they really did something bad. Romania never did anything important though so it doesn't matter in the end.
I would be rooting for European countries, rugby is kinda dominated by the Tri Nations and it gets boring imo.
I wonder if Fiji, Argentina or Japan will be able to make a surprise and qualify from their groups. They are basically the only contenders of making some surprise.

Which games have been cancelled?
Due to Typhoon Hagibis, three matches had to be called off - New Zealand vs Italy and Canada vs Namibia in Pool B and England vs France in Pool C.
Each team will take two points (a draw) from the abandoned games. New Zealand and South Africa have therefore qualified for the quarter-finals from Pool B, and England and France from Pool C.
