2NE1‘s Park Bom dropped a bombshell on March 3, 2025, with her handwritten confession on Instagram. She uploaded a lengthy statement that claimed she had been used as a scapegoat to protect fellow bandmate Sandara.

“To the citizens of the nation… Hello. This is Park Bom. I am writing because I want to share the truth with you. Have you all been well? I am not sick and am working hard to live well. I’m about to talk about something sensitive and something frightening.

I’m being cautious in case it causes another uproar, but the medication known as Adderall, which is labeled as a psychotropic drug, weighs on my mind. I really didn’t want to bring it up again… I’m afraid that even mentioning it on the news again would be a shortcut to ruining my reputation. At that time, I felt like I was dying… but [now] I am gathering the courage to speak.”

Back then, Park Bom had been accused of drug abuse, specifically, for the drug Adderall. Bom claims that she is a patient that requires the use of the drug, but was ultimately used as a scapegoat to cover up Sandara’s drug use.

“It is not a drug. I am an ADD patient, something called Attention Deficit Disorder. Sandara Park was caught for drug abuse, and to cover that up, they turned the medication into something labeled as a drug scandal involving me. At the time, there wasn’t even a specific medication system or law in this country regarding Adderall, but strangely, after Park Bom, a law was created.

To the citizens online, I sincerely ask that you please investigate the facts as they are. And lastly, what I truly want to say is this: YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, Teddy Park, and Lee Chaerin (CL), please do not report to the authorities that Park Bom used more than the prescribed amount of a drug that you yourselves have not used even once in 30 years. I am writing this because it feels like my soul is crying. Thank you for reading.”

I don’t know Korean law so I can’t say anything for certain, but I find the claim about South Korea having no specific Adderall laws strange. Even if no law mentioned Adderall by name, isn’t it likely that there were laws that mentioned amphetamines and their legality? It’s just such a broad category that so many countries have specific laws about, and it seems like it would be something that governments would have covered. Especially for a country that has historically been so strict about all kinds of drugs.

Considering she recently claimed she was suing YGE for money than exists, I don't think she's well and necessarily able to accurately report events as they factually occurred. I hope she gets help.

It's been over a decade, but I recall that the issue was the fact that it was "smuggled" in -- as in, sent by her family, not a medical provider, removed from a properly labeled pill bottle and hidden in other contents -- not that there was an issue with a legitimate prescription.

I’m a little confused what new specific Adderall law would be made if Adderall was legally obtainable through prescription and could be brought in with proper packaging, but not smuggled. A law saying you can’t import Adderall without a prescription and outside of the packaging and stuffed in a teddy bear? Surely there was a more general law about not importing certain medications without the required clearance no? Again, I’m not saying she’s wrong about it, I’m just confused I myself don’t take Adderall but I take a equally restricted medication (in the US specifically, it varies by country). And while I have occasionally had trouble finding exact requirements for medications when traveling abroad, it’s always been a lot more straightforward than the Bom situation seems.
