A 33-year-old South Korean YouTuber who had been documenting his cycling journey around the world has died in a hit-and-run accident in Bolivia, South America.

Cho Jin Woo (33), who ran the YouTube channel 'Jin's Travel,' was reportedly struck by a large cargo truck while cycling in El Alto, Bolivia.

On November 5, a friend posted an obituary in the comments section of Cho's YouTube channel, explaining that the message had been written with the family's consent.

"Cho Jin Woo, known as Jin's Travel, had been drawing pictures on the world map through his cycling journeys. He passed away on the morning of November 4, local time, after being struck by a large cargo truck while riding his bicycle in El Alto, Bolivia," the friend wrote.

According to Bolivian broadcaster UNITEL and other local media outlets, the accident occurred at approximately 9:30 AM on November 4 in El Alto. A 33-year-old South Korean man riding a bicycle was hit by a large cargo truck and died at the scene.

Nearby residents reportedly rushed to help immediately after the accident, but Cho succumbed to his severe injuries.

Local police confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene following the collision but was apprehended several hours later. During questioning, the driver reportedly claimed that he had not seen the cyclist. A breathalyzer test found no alcohol in his system. Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.

Cho launched his YouTube channel, 'Jin's Travel,' in 2020 and has since shared videos documenting his cycling adventures around the world. After traveling through Europe, Africa, and North America, he had recently been making his way across Central and South America by bicycle. His channel had approximately 69,000 subscribers.

A cycling trip through Peru's Andes Mountains, uploaded on October 30, turned out to be the final video he shared during his lifetime. Viewers have since been leaving messages of condolence in the comments section.

In the obituary, his friend paid tribute to Cho's dedication to pursuing his dream.

"Jin Woo spent a long time carefully preparing for the journey he had always dreamed of before finally setting off. He captured every moment of his journey, sharing the experience with all of you through his videos. I believe that, thanks to the people he met along the way and the subscribers who supported him from behind their screens, his journey was never a lonely one," the friend wrote.

The friend also revealed that preparations for local funeral arrangements were underway in coordination with staff members from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bolivia.

Additionally, the friend asked anyone familiar with local circumstances or able to assist the bereaved family to reach out. The public was also urged to refrain from spreading unverified speculation or sharing footage and photographs of the accident out of respect for the deceased and his family.

There was another South Korean streamer who went in that region not that long ago and she too was going on a bicycle streaming it all live, and at one point her lights stopped working and was on the most dark road you can imagine. The chat kept telling her to stop and don't go any further but she kept cycling with just her phone flashlight on in the dark night while cars were speeding right beside her on the small roads she took. Luckily she finished the whole trip safely, but it could have gone like this poor guy (r.i.p).
I don't trust being on a bike anymore in this day and age tbh because there are too many who cannot drive at all anymore.
