A siren concept in Kpop needs to happen… (2 Viewers)

Traditionally I believe they are “bird women” (body of a bird, head of a woman) but in this instance I’m going with mermaid for this thread topic.

Basically this thread is me throwing out random ideas for a siren concept in Kpop (sound wise, mv aesthetic, outfit inspo, hair/accessories inspo, group that I think would suit the concept, etc) it’s all for fun and I probably spent too much time on it . This concept can honestly go with a GG or BG, but for examples I stuck with GG’s.

The members are sirens (mermaids) : creatures on a lonely island, floating between the boundaries of life and death, and offering an irresistible song of both.

My idea for this particular concept is a beautiful, elegant, yet eerie look and sound.

For the outfits, mainly white or very muted colors, vintage/victorian inspired.

MV Aesthetic still sticks to Victorian style when it comes to the sets as well as elegant. The colors in the MV besides maybe red or gold are very muted up until the climax of the mv. As for the storyline its relatively simple. A ship of sailors must take refuge on an island with these beautiful women (sirens) and they slowly fall for their hypnotic songs. The dance scenes take place on the beach. The dance remains relatively flowy/pretty with the members often creating imagery through formations and lots of interactions together throughout the choreo.

Now for makeup its kept relatively simple and natural looking. Hair colors can be natural or vibrant colors, I do think at least one member should have a sort of ombré color though. Accessories have lots of pearls, gold, long chains, etc.

Groups I think would suit this concept are:
Nature
Dreamnote
NMIXX (I specifically had them in mind when making this)

Others are Aespa and Mamamoo(however i’d like the song to have a lot of full harmonies and with only 4 members idk how they’d manage that live). Gfriend, Pixy and Dreamcatcher but for the last two I know they’d most likely incorporate rock into it and while I think it would sound amazing, I don’t picture my particular ideal siren concept having a rock sound.


How I’d like the song to sound
I know nothing about music so I’m going to be referencing other parts of kpop songs and trying to describe what I’m envisioning as best as I can. The song is basically the sirens song to draw in their targets.

First Verse : starts off like taking a breath of fresh air, slowly begins with xylophone sort of background music along with piano. Whisper-like singing.
Similar to the part in 5th season starting 30 seconds in & ending at 0:43. (Just referring to the whispering part here, not the instrumental).


Second Verse : picks up with a sort of “twinkling” instrumental along with acoustic guitar. There’s a soft harmony in the background slowly building.

Pre - chorus: the best way I know how to explain it is just by referencing the bridge in NMIXX’s song Tank (begins at 1:52):


Chorus : The chorus needs to be explosive with harmonies (not necessarily high notes) idt there should only be one sole person singing the chorus, I’d like for all of the members to do the chorus so the song sounds as full as possible. Also for the notes to gradually go up and down in range for the first half in the chorus (like ocean waves) and then the final part its something similar to Dreamnotes chorus in Ghost (referring to 1:07 - 1:24 minus the bits of talking there).

While I don’t have the rest of my idea for the song figured out I’d pretty much like it to hold onto the elements previously mentioned. There could be a rap verse, but only if it’s done as a sort of “singing rap”.

I really do think NMIXX would fit this concept the best, specifically because of their 3 main vocalists. JYP come stalk Kpop forums and see all my hard work so I can see all this come to life.
Now does this thread have an actual point? Nope I just really love the idea of a full on siren concept and wanted to gush. You’re welcome.

Wow, i think this would be a great idea. Maybe now after the Live adaptation we will get some. I know Gugudan debuted with a kind of Little MErmaid concept. Not exactly siren that lures u to the doom, but that's all i remember. Oh and Orange Caramel's Catallena, but maybe lets not get into that ... XD

what do you think? the lyrics are very important, it's melody, cuz she's like a siren, and her song, her "melody", is what will capture the attention and seduce and cause ships to crash

why it's filmed at that location too

The song I actually really like and it definitely fits the summery siren concept I think they were going for. It’s not necessarily my “ideal” siren concept but I still enjoy the song and YooA’s take on it. She suits it well.

so I have to correct you and praise you at the same time.
first of all, I happy you are one of the really few ppl knowing that siren were once half bird in myths.
they became half fish only later on, but almost no one knows about it.
BUT a mermaid and a siren are not the same. while a siren are the bad singing creatures, luring man off their boads and killing them - mermaids are (you could say) the child version. they dont kill ppl or lure man into the water. its a disney invention.

anyways, I`m pretty sure there were mermaid concepts, but I cant remember a siren one.

Oh I know I’ve just noticed in recent years that a lot of people combine siren+mermaids together. I’m assuming because mermaids are often seen as these beautiful mythical creatures in the sea so I just went along with that idea. Always feel free to release your inner nerd

To be honest I don’t know too much about mythology, I find it really fascinating though
