An agency, hereafter known as “A,” is being accused of collecting over 100,000 accounts to vote in the first season of “Produce 101.”
“Produce 101” allows one account per individual for voting, and identity verification is required to create an account.
According to sources who previously worked at “A,” an executive of the agency gathered office employees, managers, and trainees in March 2016 and handed out documents with over 100,000 usernames and passwords for online voting. The agency reportedly used borrowed-name accounts and installed computer programs to make IP tracking difficult.
They were told to focus on voting for two of the trainees, with office employees voting during the day and managers and trainees voting during the night. Former trainee “B” said, “We were not allowed to go home until we completed our assigned number of votes. We voted everyday from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m.” The trainee added, “The executive who instructed the voting forced us by saying, ‘You will receive this benefit next season.'”
Each person was assigned about 1,400 accounts per day to vote with. Former trainee “C” shared, “The executive just handed out tens of thousands at first, but maybe they thought it was not enough because they brought more IDs a few days later, adding up to over 100,000.”
“C” said that when trainees spoke out against the situation, their cell phones were confiscated, and they were locked up in the office.
One of the agency’s three trainees who participated in the first season of “Produce 101” was reportedly chosen for the final lineup.
In response to the reports, “A” commented, “That did not happen.”

I do find the numbers a bit off because if they had 100k votes a day to play with this would look drastically different.
especially the pick 2 round which is less than 100k total for the voting period.

there is no chance at 100k for it to be starship.

now if they have 30- 40k maybe but even 10k would generate bigger number for both in the pick 2 elimination in ep 10.

Gonna have to call bull (*&* on this story's numbers at the very least.

(5x1400 = 7k a day for pete's sake 7x7k = 49 k a week and you had to vote for the designated number no bullet voting) round 1 was almost 3 weeks round 2 voting at least 2, round 3 more than 1. The math flat does not add up for any round but maybe rounds 1 or 2 with a far smaller number of accounts than they claim.

What would be super interesting is the real number of Chinese txt votes that were accepted in the final. If you were going to spend money that would be the day. 10-20k txt votes would have got your girl in the team. clearly there was a bunch of text votes as Chungha rose from 11th to 4th.

Chae was 7th at 215k

Let alone the weeks worth of online voting. With the final vote count being so small (compared to that 100k or 10k multiples number) anything close to 20k per day would put the girl on the team.

Math wins reporting looses ... again :)

The telling ep is the tenth no way they back down there and there are just not enough votes for much more than 7k per day.

Definitely sounds like MBK. I was pretty surprised by how popular Chayeon was because besides being pretty she didn't really get any other push on the show so having those votes would have supplemented her popularity

The numbers sound way too high, but I wouldn't be surprised if many companies did do this to at least some extent.
