AKMU’s Lee Chanhyuk and fromis_9’s Lee Saerom have reportedly ended their relationship.

On January 21, a media outlet reported that according to entertainment industry insiders, the two ended their relationship last year after dating for approximately a year.

When approached for confirmation, a representative from Lee Chanhyuk’s agency YG Entertainment stated, “We cannot confirm as it pertains to the artist’s private life.”

Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Saerom were first rumored to be dating in October 2022. The speculation arose from eyewitness accounts of the two being spotted on a date at a workshop, as well as social media posts showing them in what appeared to be the same locations.

At the time, YG Entertainment also refrained from confirming the rumors, citing the artist’s privacy. Meanwhile, Lee Saerom’s then-agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, chose not to comment on the matter.

edited to add more context: as a saerom biased flover i didn't believe this for two reasons: (1) the rumours were initially spread by sojang, who is known to have spread misinfo on so many idols, just to stir shit on them. and (2) the pictures of them at that exhibition were clearly on different days - one of the exhibits was a banana taped to the wall, which was fresh and yellow when chanhyuk went, but had gone all brown during saerom's visit. this is something that could have happened only over the course of a few days

however i really don't give a shit if they were actually dating or not, i really don't care if my faves were. i'd honestly love for a more open atmosphere in the idol industry, where (a) idols can comfortably be in public relationships without being harassed by fans, (b) idols can be close to idols of the other sex without any party being harassed (one of the reasons hyunadawn went public was fans slutshaming her and calling her a predator. they wanted to make it absolutely clear that their relationship was consensual), and (c) idols can maintain their privacy wrt their love lives, without fan speculation. i'm just surprised these rumours seemed to have wide acceptance within the kpop fandom, if not actually a grain of truth to them.

Its HYBE mediaplay IMO. Sojang started the rumor back when, completely unfounded, they have no proof. Id say HYBE did this because of the rumors about fromis redebut.

YG Entertainment has released a brief comment regarding AKMU’s Lee Chanhyuk’s dating news.

On January 23, TENASIA reported that AKMU’s Lee Chanhyuk and actress Ha Ji Su are in a relationship.

In response to the report, YG Entertainment briefly stated, “It is difficult to confirm matters regarding private life.”

Lee Chanhyuk and Ha Ji Su met through the project group Leechanhyukvideo and its project album “Umbrella,” which was released in June 2023. Ha Ji Su starred as the female lead of the music video for “Dance,” one of the double title tracks.

Earlier on January 21, a media outlet also reported that Lee Chanhyuk had broken up with fromis_9’s Lee Saerom last year.
