Tomorrow I'm taking a friend to the dentist so he can have wisdom teeth removed. He's terrified because he's going under. On my Monday I'm having surgery in 3 places on my stomach. I'm looking forward to getting the problem fixed, I get good drugs, and anesthesia is the best sleep of your life. I have zero fear. I rarely experience fear and when I do I shrug it off quickly and get to doing what needs to be done. The closest I have to fear in my life is social anxiety. Is my lack of fear mean I'm broken some how?! Is it bad?

Nah lack of sense of danger is common with ADHD I’m ngl I have it too a lot

Idk but I wish I had a sense of danger sometimes like sure I’m not scared or whatever uncomfortable emotion but it’s not real, like what is real (danger) doesn’t register and sure I might be like fine about smth but the consequences that are very real don’t register and I’d rather feel smth real and bad then that a lot

Well it does say children so idk if it applies for you, like some stuff/symptoms do get less as you age rather than stuff like time blindness, organization, etc

like the prefrontal cortex fully develops at 25, so since adhd is a bit slower to mature in that regard let’s say at latest by 30?

so this particular thing idk if it’s bc of your ADHD or smth else bc it is a symptom but I don’t think one that affects all ages with ADHD and def not solely inattentive type

Oh yeah I get that to some extent, I think more than adhd it’s a coping mechanism

I didn’t have that with danger, but I had smth similar ig, like so tired of being depressed now I’m just happy but it’s more a coping mechanism than anything I don’t like it

My health teacher literally told the younger half of 9th grade (so all 14 year olds no 15) “when you go to college and you do smth stupid and your parents get mad you can say I’m young and dumb and my prefrontal cortex is still developing bc your prefrontal cortex is what controls impulses and thinking before doing and planned thought processes and it doesn’t finish developing till you’re 25” or smth like that
