I've been trying to get over this for days but it won't go away... maybe I care to much? Maybe Im being stupid and need to mind my own business. Hayoung has always dressed conservatively but all the sudden this season she's being dress in the skimpiest outfits compared to pretty much all the other idols. I'm generally not a prude and I keep telling myself shes an adult. But I also am really afraid its being forced on her. What really got me wound up was this outfit.

Don't me wrong. Her bottom is perfection but also not my business or anyone else's to see. When the shorts are that tight and I can see her skin through them they are no longer safety shorts but thin panties... All the thumb nails are Hayoungs butt. This seems very abnormal in kpop and especially for her. Prople are saying disgusting things that would absolutely be hurtful snd embarrassing. The thought makes me sad but am I just being sheltered and nieve?

I see what you mean. That is also in my opinion too risque and i truly hope she doesnt feel embarassed, forced and shameful about it.
Kpop has always had short skirts but there always have been something that definetly look like shorts under it. Even the other girl who is wearing short skirt has shorts beneath that arent sheer and as tight so why does she only have so tight and sheer ones

I feel like I shouldn't touch this topic with a pole but unfortunately sex sells and things like this will probably boost her/the groups popularity. Of course that attention will come from people who objectify her and not the people who actually care (aka real fans) but the company won't care if it makes them money and it's a tempting trap for a girl who is complimented and gaining popularity because of it.

In this case it's just a short skirt and relatively mild so I won't digress, but the issue as a whole is one that permeates modern society.

One detail that is worth taking into account however is that Korean culture does not sexualize legs and butts the way western cultures do so a lot of the time things look a bit worse than it is to us and on the flipside they are much more sensitive about showing cleavage than we are.

Personally I just wonder what the point of the skirt is if half your butt is out anyway, 😂, it honestly would look less sus if she took the skirt off and wore only the shorts.

I feel like it would look kind of cute if the shirts were the same color/material as the skirt. But I think having the shorts be a different color and thickness than the skirt makes it look more weird. It’s also unfortunately true that the exploitive nature of the kpop industry makes it hard in cases like these to tell if it’s the idols choice or not

NewJeans wore full baggy pants and shirts and they easily were on their way to outsell anyone while not "selling sex". Twice in their peak again barely showed skin yet were one of the most popular groups. Problem with Kpop is, they are copy cats and stylists will always copy other groups. If they see one group with their butt out, you can bet they will do it to their group too at one point.

But to be on topic with the video you showed. Her skirt is really too short...and I thought NMIXX theirs were short of few days ago. These stylists also never take into consideration these idols have to dance in that. At one point female Kpop idols will be put in a stripper outfit, and guys will be sweating their butt off in a full decked outfit lol....all while outselling the girl groups perfect who have to endure being exposed and possible malfunctions like Chaeryeong, Lily, Haewon, Kyujin


Earlier this year in February I had a reversed culture shock by what NMIXX wore at Brazil. Since then something inside me will never ever be the same towards them again. But hey their stylist made it all happen and still does it. People who complain about it on places like instagram get reported by other fans as spam. Imagine that.

Anyway, if you would want to rant about this in a form to cope with it (as I do) my DM's are open.

I'm not sure if you were referring to my post but I want to clarify that I was not justifying it but stating an unfortunate reality. Sex DOES sell and it's almost a shortcut to fast, shallow fame if promoted correctly but of course you can reach the top without it as any true artist should. The problem here is that idols aren't always treated as artists - but products.

None of the other girls are dressed like this at all this season or any before it. Mostly you can tell they build the shorts into the skirt for her. I'd love to know what changed and why is this happening to the least likely in fromis to be ok with this. Questions I know I'll never get answered....

Maybe she heard the criticism and thought this is something she has to do. I don't really know Fromis9 very well so it's hard for me to even speculate, but I don't think you're overreacting since it's a widespread problem.

I had this experience when I saw AMPERS&ONE live this week. It was 78°F/25.5°C outside, so you know, even warmer in the venue with a sold out audience + stage lights + no AC. And the stylists had the guys in long-sleeved shirts with heavy sleeveless hoodies over them, scarves, etc. During all of the conversational parts, at least one of them was commenting "[This city] is really hot, isn't it?"

And it's like... really, stylists, you couldn't have checked the temperature and changed the outfits a bit? Like no excuse, it's not like they needed to add clothes, like with Hayoung here. They just needed to shove them into fewer layers.

I don't know fromis_9 very well, but based on what you said, it looks like a dramatic change, and I do hope that it was her decision to make that change.

Part of the reason i switched to kpop was it was more reasonable, and artists actually did care about reputation and example.

Normally they have idols wear black shorts to cover up more. Idk what they were thinking...you can clearly tell the fabric is thin too.
Even Chaeyoung wore white shorts but they were actual shorts and not spandex, which also would've been a more appropriate option for Hayoung.
