So a few months ago my dad leaked my passport on Facebook and refused to apologize for it. As you guys know I'm a petty asshole so I didnt let this go by, I ignored him up unti June.

We had some problems before this moment but two days ago I asked my father to pack up my stuff so i can take it out of his house since he said he's going to throw my stuff away. I didnt pick it up yesterday bcuz he was at the corner store getting drunk.

This morning he texted me this long essay.

Sorry for the blurry image but I replied back with a petty ass message like "Thanks, I appreciate your blessing." At this point I'm not angry at him bcuz like I mentioned before he has done this before and later he will go to my grandparents and rest of my family and make it seem like I did something to him. He can't even spell my name right and he threatened to "get me down on sight" after I replied to his message so I'm officially cutting him out of my life.

Am I wrong for this?

I don't know the full story and who much of an issue you where. But in the end that's pretty much how NOT to parent. Just because they brought you into this world doesn't mean you are under any obligation to like them and let them be in your life forever. I have a toxic mother and the best thing I ever done was remove her from my life. It was a weight off my shoulders.

And you know what if your family brings this up don't sass back. Just be like "you know how dad is". If you don't argue about how your dad treated you and keep your calm to family (mother figure excluded) it'll be a suttle revenge.

sorry things are like this.. It's really a new level of pain when your own parent, the person who should protect you the most hurts you like this.. Nah he seems like a big baby and it's likely since it seems he's hoping you'll run back that if you cut him out then he'll run back eventually.

Being family though doesn't mean your obligated to put up with his crap and he's clearly a bad parent from this as even if someones kids are huge troublemakers you have to deal with it like an adult which this is not.

I was able to cut my dad out of my life incredibly early on because I saw him for what he was. That was when I was 6yrs old and even now at 28 I have no desire to have him in my life. If you have the opportunity to cut your own dad out then do so. Also leaking a passport is so irresponsible and dangerous, anybody could see it and duplicate it.

If there is chance to better your relationship for some way I'd say that's the way to go, but if he's just continuing being like that you aren't wrong cutting him out of your life- if he's just going to be sth negative then it's not worth for him to be there.

The passport issue is a big problem and I think you were right about being angry. It has so much personal information that could harm your future if it falls in the wrong hands. A parent is someone who helps you not harm you. You deserve better and do what’s best for your future self. Your future self will thank you later.
