I used 23andMe, but having all my family come from rural south Georgia and our last known European ancestor emigrating from one of the Northern counties of Ireland during the 1879 famine; I wasn't horrifically shocked. I was a bit stunned at how little I was anything else because that German ancestry is probably just Saxon invaders tbh lol. (No clue how the Central Asian ancestor came into the picture)

My mom and I tried to predict my results before I took it, and my mom fully was convinced that I would be 15% to 30% American Indian (My result was 0.1%) and I had to remind her that we were not Mexican and had never met anyone Native in our lives and that "100% Native" ancestor either didn't exist or was VERY VERY far removed lol.

It depends on your nationality or if you don't know where you ancestors are from. I'd imagine it's thrilling for everyone born in the Americas, White/Mixed races in Southern Africa, and Australians and Kiwis but I feel like if you're from like Pakistan it might be a bit of waste of money, but you never know what your ancestry holds so I say go for it anyway. Worse case scenario you get told you're 100% something haha.

I know im mixed finnish and chinese and tbh now that you say that i dont think there would be much suprises for me since both finns and chinese are pretty homogeneous countries on their own

I'm not sure if they are able to break it down into the different Han subgroups like Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese, Shanghainese, etc. but I wish they could.

It is strange they count the 0 points..
ancestry got rid of those stats a while ago.

Oh I know, I've seen those videos but after they say their background it's usually that they're Ashkenazim or Chinese from the videos I have watched. Yeah, being part Thai you'd have pretty good chance of having some Chinese. I heavily overestimated the amount of non-Western European ancestry though. I thought I was going to be like 60% Western, 20% Eastern, 15% Southern, 3% Black and 2% Native. I overestimated everything except Western European which I was about 28% more of than I expected.

I thought mine was going to be chinese only but it wasn't from mums side.
Dads was expected his side full european genes.
