tw for mentions of bullying and mental health
my mom found some old art i made in art class at highschool but i told her i personally dont care to keep it. as an artist, i know the importance of keeping art to notice your own progress, but it was work for school, not stuff i made on my own terms. i want to mostly forget my school days because my memories of it are (mostly) all bullying and stress. it was never fun for me. she told me that i'd regret it because i'll forget later down the line and want to remember because its such an insignificant part of life.
the thing is, because i dealt with so much bullying, im mentally fucked up from school and have been for years now. uh.... that doesn't sound like something insignificant. even if therapy does lead me to recovery, i doubt i'll ever forget those memories.
even further, i already forget a decent ass amount of the good memories from school. most of the things i do remember still are weird or stressful, and therefore mean nothing to me. and finally, i don't interact with any friends i had in school anymore except for one person.
of course i have memories that matter to me to remember. but school just isnt one. is that really so bad?
