I’m interested in hearing other’s opinions on this subject.
:susPepe:
Growing up and especially as a teenager I really loved the idea of a romantic relationship and getting married. But I have very mixed feelings about it now. To me I love the idea of marrying someone who’s like my best friend, but to find “the one” doesn’t seem worth all the effort to me.
Most romantic relationships around me are very much the man having complete control, both people not really liking each other and it just doesn’t seem like a fun time tbh. I can only think of maybe one romantic relationship around me that seems like they still want to be together (referring to irl btw). I know relationships aren’t perfect and there will be tough times, but all the ones around me appear to be like “We’re together still because we don’t believe in divorce so we’re stuck together.”
:soob:
Then the whole idea of dating is just terrifying to me, based off my experiences with potential guys to date none of them ended well and it just causes pain and stress. There are some amazing guys in this world, I know that, but I seem to attract ones who won’t take no for an answer or end up completely ghosting me because I don’t want to date them. Or just in general are not great people.
:pandasmash:
Not everyone is a bad person I know that but it doesn’t really seem worth it to put myself out there, open up to someone and only for it to not work out for whatever reason and to continue this process until I find “the one.” To me personally it seems like a waste of time and energy.
:nekosweat:
Anyways, now that I have rambled. What do you think?

Throughout my life I have had mixed feelings about relationships. Starting off from my earliest exposure to relationships: my parents. They had their ups and downs, without going into much detail. I had a few traumatic relationships where I was used and abused, to put it simply. And then met my girlfriend and she means the whole world to me. Just when I started thinking relationships weren’t for me, I met her and she turned my whole world upside down. I didn’t think I’d be stable enough for a relationship and I feared being abandoned. But now I’m a year strong with my girlfriend and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. So to answer your question: yes I believe they are worth it

depends on the person ig.
Life changes what we want and how we view our past desires.
It's justified to feel fear about dating,
Just remember that societal norms may be norms but they are NOT requirements.
Do what you think will work for you fam <3

As for me, I rather not divulge into that can of worms I've kept locked for the past decade. :sanapray:

They could be. There's just too many people who want the status, but not the connection nor the work to maintain it. Too many people who rush to get the romance, then stop trying because their s.o is just supposed to be happy that they chose them.

I haven't thought about romantic relationships or "what I look for" in years. I'm open to romance, but the majority of guys have to be weeded out first.

If your problem is crappy men I have a great solution, convert to lesbianism :pepesmug:
Jk jk I know that’s not how it works :lisalaugh:
But in all seriousness I seem to have gotten lucky with it’s only having one real relationship yet it happening to be a great one. I’ve been interested in a relationship casually once I got over my whole sexuality thing after my grandma flipped out at me :we_kpopsourcing: but anyways.
Relationships aren’t worth it if they’re forced, I feel like the best ones happen more naturally, as in you meet a person you like and it goes from there. I’m sure you can find a good relationship on Tinder or whatnot but I do think it’s much harder in a way. Hopefully things work out with you, whether that means a relationship or no relationship in your future.

Indeed an option :pepesmug:
I’ve had some amazing guy friends in the past I just happen to feel nothing for them romantically. I for some reason am only attracted to those who end up not being nice people.

I don't think that you should force yourself into one if you don't feel like it, rather if it happens naturally then it does and if it doesn't happen then also no problem !

I agree with you a lot Wing, I personally don't find the idea of romantic relationship one that is... possible(?) for me. It requires so much energy and trust in someone and people around me, even those I've dated in the past, have always let me down or pushed me too far. I dont ever see myself falling for someone again, dating anyone, or ever seeing another person romantically again at this point in my life. My answer would be no, they're not worth it.

I think it has failed me too many times, so I do not believe it exists.

I think it is, it has failed me but I know it's for a good cause and I have become a better person each time. Not everyone is a douche who is going to screw you over. Idk maybe i just attract good people though (except that one ex i will always hate that person idc how good of a person i am now, i will have my revenge. i will heal in hell!/j)

this is a rant kinda don't force urself to be in a relationship if u aren't feeling it. i has caused me a lot of trouble in the past. I am saying love is worth anything, just not your mental health. u ALWAYS come first

it really is dependent on yourself, especially if you aren't in a place to handle one

I personally think for me they are absolutely worth it. i want someone who will be my best friends through good and bad, who will lead me to be a better person. but if you don't think another person is necessary for that and that you'd prefer doing it on your own there's also that. society places a lot of importance on being in a relationship. of course its not crazy bad but if you say you don't want a relationship people will probably ask why, say you just need to meet the right person, or just kinda judge you silently from afar.

its often glamourised like meeting the one will fall into place but it takes a lot of work to have a romantic relationship, arguably even more than friendships, especially if you want to be serious.

I'm not sure if I can answer this properly but it can overall depend on the person whether if they are capable to handle one. I think the best time to think about relationships is when you are ready and you feel like you can do it without too much to worry about

I mean it does take time to form a relationship so idk

I guess I can agree that it can be worth it cuz it can also improve people personality growth and sometimes let people view things differently. No one needs to agree with me nor am I asking for anyone's opinion. This is just my opinion on it.

Honestly, relationships seem exhausting - well if it's the wrong person, I guess. When I was younger my parents always pressured me with questions about when I might bring home a guy... but I never really cared for dating or relationships, I just wanted that academic validation haha.
Well, I ended up having my first relationship when I was 19 with a boy and I literally thought it would be my ride or die. I am a bit of a hopeless romantic so I always tried to basically fit into everything he expected of me. Didn't realize I started losing myself in the process only for him to become super toxic and a walking red flag. Well, he ended up breaking off the relationship (kind of, he couldn't really say it so I had to guess what he implied)after 2,5 years and to be fair... I feel like I am a changed person. I enjoy being single so much, there are no expectations and I can just be myself... nobody to please!

I would say romantic relationships are possible.. or maybe I still hope so... but it all depends on the people involved. There's no point in forcing anything. I think the most important thing is to be happy with your own presence and company (yeah that's cheesy, ik). Love yourself, everyone <3

i’m just gonna say this. i’ve seen so many relationships in my life and one of my own and the one thing that failed all of them was that, the couple just wasn’t made for each other. so before you step into one, just make extra sure that it is the right one, i know that’s like really broad. but like you just know when the right person has come across you. so yeah if you do that, romantic relationships are worth giving a shot for that.

i’ve only been in one relationship my whole life and it only lasted a week (because i wasn’t in love with him, i was just too scared to hurt his feelings so i said yes) but we’re still friends. imo it’s not worth it but that just might be because i’m aroace. everyone is different and everyone will have different experiences so giving it a shot might not hurt
