Absolutely tragic, my heart goes out to his family.
I hope their lawsuit is successful, no event should EVER end this way, especially one marketed as "all ages".



If this investigation doesn't lead to criminal charges, someone needs to investigate the investigators.
I still think an agency that had over 500 of their staff involved shouldn't be calling the shots.​

Big festivals like this are well known to be family oriented. Travis Scott has had several promotions with properties like McDonald's & Fortnite. Astroworld festival was billed as all ages, and a big part of the event was a carnival set up with rides, games, food, etc. Travis Scott wasn't the only performer, there were something like 23 different performers, and events like this go on all the time with children in attendance without issue. I've been going to concerts since I was an infant, parents like to go out and have fun, too. Some like to share their musical interests with their kids.

Take one look at this video from 2019 and tell me they did not specifically make this a family friendly event:


Ezra was on his father's shoulders. The crowd crush caused his father to black out, and when he came to, Ezra was missing and critically injured. He has to live with that for the rest of his life. What makes you feel like you need to comment on that man's parenting when he's grieving? When he will remember this one moment forever? I'm not trying to be rude, but come on, have a little more humanity than what is shown here. Even if you weren't aware of the setup of the concert, it makes one wonder how much the internet has desensitized us to other peoples' feelings that instead of comforting a grieving father, many criticize him.

Don't get me wrong, of course this is horrible, and I feel sorry for the father, but if you know anything about Travis Scott's concerts, you know that they always go horribly crazy and always have insane mosh pits, even in a setting such as Astroworld. It's not like this type of behavior is new in his concerts. I honestly don't think any of that should even matter. It's literally the responsibility of the artist and the venue to keep fans safe absolutely regardless of how his concerts usually go. As a matter of fact, if anything, that just makes Scott/the organizers even more culpable because they knew there was a high probability of danger and did absolutely nothing to mitigate it, and even encouraged it. Ezra & his dad had made it through the whole day and multiple performances without incident, they had zero reason to believe that would suddenly change, especially since the organizers insisted after the trampling incident in 2019 that they had addressed issues with crowd control. Millions of children each year attend events like this and leave safely. Why is it on his parents to keep him safe at an event specifically marketed as safe for families? You are outright doubling down on placing blame on his family. They have enough to worry about without the moral police shaming them for their decision to take their kid to a festival. Hindsight is 20/20, of course you can look at this now and go, "Well that was to be expected", only it very much wasn't or I guarantee these people would not have attended. His father was trying to keep him safe and let him have a good time, and he fulfilled that. The people hired to keep him and everyone else in the crowd safe and under control are the ones with whom the responsibilities lie. Have a little bit of compassion.
