then whenever I did smth disappointing at the end of high school 16/17 yrs old my mom's like "you can go to college and party all night and get drunk and have lots of boyfriends or girlfriends (the girlfriends was more in a "that would make it even more disgusting" way, not like she was being open minded) and f-word a lot and drop out and be a failure if you don't focus on your studies. do you want that?"

One of my Korean friends have a mom like that, and she weren't even allowed to make friend of the opposite sex. Now she 26 and her mom is pressuring her to give her grandchildren and get married and questioning why she is still single.

also my grandma (my dad's mom) dropped out of high school at 16 and got married to a 30 year old man and got pregnant~

she's the only one in the family that doesn't know English I think (which isn't a big deal ig, not like she's american or british or smth)

so my mom would also say stuff like I could drop out of high school like her and she'd get me married off (tho that's not rlly done nowadays) and stuff like that which made my dad upset bc she'd always negatively compare to his side of the family, like do you want to end up like them~

my mom's not like that, she just wants me to study hard so I'll have a good job and be a professional in the future. she's very supportive and if I'm studying too hard (yk like staying up so late), she tells me to stop and rest, I love her sm.

lol I meant you told me you're from the Phillipines before!

My grandfather (mom's dad) is Japanese, and before he immigrated to the UK, he was in an arranged marriage to a Japanese woman when he was 19. It was a very short-lived. My grandfather basically ghosted her because he went on a business trip to the UK and just never went back to Japan.
