As mentioned above they are managed defacto by Teddy and the Black Label already, so I see this news as a bigger deal for YG that seems to want to adopt the Hybe business model.

Of course there is a plus side for Blackpink. Being on the Black Label proper will give them more creative freedom if they so desire. Teddy encourages Somi to write and compose her own music and indeed one of the best songs on her album (Watermelon) was written and composed by her. That being said, the biggest weakness of Black Label is how bottlenecked the artists become because Teddy is so slow at writing music. Somi had zero music promotions this year, probably because Teddy was too busy with Blackpink’s new album. So unless this change means Teddy can expand his production team to include more songwriters and producers, the music is gonna come at the same glacial trickle.
