So, I came across this youtuber who also does reactions for other Kpop groups, including Dreamcatcher and this is what she had to say about it all.

My personal thoughts are I can see how it is disrespectful if there are rules put in place to know how to use the Ganesha statue and I think YG should make an apology, even if they had no intentions of offending anyone.

Like she said, Lisa might be a Buddhist (I just checked and it says she is), so she would know where to place it as Ganesha may also be placed in Buddhist sculptures.

I'm not religious at all and while I can't stand religion, I do think YG are playing with fire (lol no pun intended), so they should apologise whether it was their intention or not.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

I just wish K-Pop wouldn't get involved with religion at all. It's such a sensitive topic for many around the world and they're bound to get in a scandal no matter what they do. To me this is no different from using a quranic verse in a song. It's very disrespectful and very unnecessary. It holds a lot of significance for people who are from that religion and it may have occurred our of their ignorance and it might not have meant anything to them but lots of people are hurt by it. So in my opinion, it's best to apologise and hopefully learn from this and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Of course. They shouldn't play around with things that are sensitive and could upset other people anyways imo, not without looking into it at least.

I think it was pure mistake, they likely didn't try to include religion in anyway but someone from the staging team who was buying lot of the props also bought the statue cause that they thought it fit to the aesthetic and put it there. I think it's rly easy mistake to make, and probably by some low rank employer of the company who was shooting the mv not even YG and BP. Like there was no significance of having the statue there even, it wasn't zoomed or anything it was just one prop within dozen others, which makes this case just rly unfortunate too.

I think the stage director/designer should apologise, I don't get why people are calling Lisa out, she might be from Thailand but do they even know how busy and long shoots are even for a short mv like this, the girls are probably too tired to notice the set and switching between multiple costumes trying to get the perfect shots for the mv.

I mean, I definitely don’t think the man YG or the girls had anything to do with the props, however this is the second time YG is getting into a religion controversy (as far as I’m aware) so he really should be re careful to try and avoid something like this happening again. They’re a big company with millions of eyes on them. Like I said, I don’t think they did it on purpose and I don’t think they meant harm but people are upset so they should apologise for it. Whether done or purpose or not, it’s still their mistake. Not to mention, the girls are the ones getting all the hate for it so someone needs to speak up and end it all before it escalates further.

As someone from a Hindu family, I'd rather Teddy apologize for that drop.

In all seriousness, this is one instance where I can see how it's disrespectful though I put it down to ignorance. I don't mind when idols wear bindis or stuff tho, but religion is a sensitive topic esp when you bring deities/Gods into the picture, and Ganesha is pretty major, one of the most popular Gods with lots of followers in India. Even though I'm not religious, my family and friends are, and so are millions of other people so yeah.

Yea they should apologize. I'm not sure if they could do more about it... or I guess they could cut the mv a bit and then re-release it :dubuthink:

I think apologies are due for this. Mo matter how you look at it, things like that easily offend others
