Hi! So I've been ‘ following ‘ Hearts2Hearts since they released Focus, and I’m a little split on the matter of stanning them. As of right now their oldest member is 19 (?) and their youngest member is 14/15. I just cannot accept that as someone who doesn’t like when idol groups have more than half of their members as minors. I’ve even written a whole paper about it! So for right now, I want to start stanning Hearts2Hearts, but listening to their music on unofficial streaming apps like SoundCloud and buying their albums secondhand ( eBay or Mercari ). However, I don’t know if this is a logical thing to do…. I love how talented Hearts2Hearts is, I love their music as well, but again I’m not willing to stan a group with more than half their members being 15-17.

Any advice?

From what I have seen none of their music or outfits are inappropriate for the girls or their audience. Beyond that I've seen nothing to say they are abused, mistreated, or exploited... they are with SM which means there is going to be some mistreatment and exploitation but nothing out of ordinary for the industry. I'm not against a boycott if its for a specific reason. There is always some kind of boycott going on in kpop but only twice have I seen it for a good reason and only once was it actually successful. Orbits boycotted Loona and Blackberry Entertainment and were very successful getting an entirely finished comeback canceled. I have to give credit to the courts for dissolving the girls contracts though. The second boycott was madein, which was unsuccessful as 6 members of the group is still under contract. The Korean members are on permanent hiatus while the Japanese members are still being abused by the company and its CEO. I wont expound because I'll get a warning or a temporary ban for my thoughts on the situation. :pandangry:

Ahh i see. Yeah the flopberry creative boycott was very successfu! Now that I’m thinking about it, H2H does have pretty good production when it comes to things appropriate for them and I did Stan Newjeans in the past. I’ll probably start scanning them more seriously when I do more research on em!

The age difference between the members isn't really a problem since EXID has an age gap of 8 years compared to debuting at 14 being too young for an idol to debut at which EXIDs maknae debuted at 16 which I think is the lowest age an idol should debut at but you aren't going to make enough noise to change that especially when one of the most successful idols there is now was the cause of heavy debate over the age she debuted at being Wonyoung and it didn't change anything then.

Yeah that makes sense,, for me it wasn’t really to make noise or change anything it was more so for personal reasons. I for sure get ur point though!

i have given up fighting the age thing. As long as it not just over the line in apportioned.
For example i was very unhappy with Side to side even being in the set list for pd 48.
There is a number of people who will thrive , super young ie UNIS Seowon, Elisia, Wonyoung, Yujin, Krystal ect
and older ones who will crash out. one size does not fit all.

Personally i like H2h energy and much of the music. hate rude but what can ya do.

To be honest there's nothing wrong with enjoying their music since age doesn't exactly come into the music aspect as an issue but it's everything surrounding that where it becomes an issue not even just the adults lusting after minors as it's also throwing a young teenager out against an audience where they will be picked apart and likely have their self esteem cratered too.

Ultimately as long as you're pushing back against the shady direction of things you're doing your part which I'll tell you that Heart2Hearts is less shady from what I've seen than aespa who were mostly adults when they debuted I think yet when talking about the group they wanted to have their virtual idols beam right into people's homes and I was like legitimately stunned at the insanity of that.

WHAT I HAD NO CLUE THAT WAS GONNA BE AESPA’S CONCEPT AT FIRST???? 😭 I’m so glad they changed that….. but yeah! From what I’ve seen so far h2hs is well produced as minors and aren’t forced into adult concepts as of rn. Hopefully it stays that way forever…

why would you need a reason to boycott (or support) something - if something goes against your system of beliefs or morals or contrary to some ethical standard then just stop supporting them
one doesn't really need a reason do to so - it's not like one keeps tabs on people and who they support (or boycott)

also in regards to age here my take (especially as it relates to GG and minors)

in the entire history of kpop there have been less than 10 GG where all the members who started with the same company renewed their contract with the same company - GG have a lifespan and expiration date whether one wants to admit it or not but it happens
they grow older - get replaced with someone newer and prettier and "more" talented etc etc OR they get into acting or leave the industry or go their separate ways
and thus the earning potential of a female idol in kpop is limited and thus personally the earlier they start the more they can earn before leaving the kpop idol side of things
for example there are idols who debuted at 13 such as BOA and WY (if izone were a permanent group) assuming a 7 year standard contract they would've earned an entire lifetime worth of earnings and still be younger than the likes of Jisoo, Nayeon and Irene when they debuted

now obviously there are downsides to debuting so early - I'm not naive enough to dismiss those issues but those issues exist even if those idols debuted older

Yeah it's hard to find information on it but this article says that the avatars would be able to do things the members would not be able to do like being together at work with the fans which and that was the reason for their creation I'd imagine to bridge this gap. Some companies will just try anything like I remember fans gave backlash to Soumu around Gfriends like 1st major concert because they thought it was a good idea to put on the merchandise list lifesize body pillows and they were very soon removed
