MPs cheered when Theresa May asked if Parliament wanted a second referendum, after the prime minister was defeated on her Brexit deal.

“This House will have to answer that question," Ms May told the house. "Does it wish to revoke Article 50? Does it want to hold a second referendum, or does it want to leave with a deal but not this deal?

"These are unenviable choices, but thanks to the decision the House has made this evening they must now be faced.”

As she mentioned a Final Say vote, several MPs shouted "yes”, followed immediately by others shouting “no”.

Shortly afterwards, another MP also shouted: “What about a general election?”

The prime minister's deal was voted down by a majority of 149.

The House will vote tomorrow on the option of leaving the European Union without a deal on 29 March, which Ms May said would be a “free vote” for her MPs.

:sj_weary:

The final vote by the UK Parliament on whether the UK would accept the Brexit deal with the EU was defeated in spectacular fashion tonight!!! Now the government will have to vote on whether the UK will leave the EU with 'No Deal' a scenario that isn't going to happen. Or the government will ask the EU for a extension of Article 50 to either try and work out another deal or even hold a 2nd referendum. There is also the very high possibility that Article 50 will be revoked all together meaning that we can all put this silly temper tantrum behind us and move on.

Gah, I hope you guys get some peace soon. Our government seems to have gone full retard lately too. Why can't we just have smart politicians.
I hope so as well.. Though looks like the damage has already been done with my wife possibly being relocated back to Japan (with Honda moving out of the UK) meaning that we as a family could be living in Japan by the time that this is all sorted.

I haven't checked YLE in a while. What's been going on?

So either britain will have to swallow their pride, or be utterly fucked.
There's nothing left to be proud of. The 'Great' left Britain a long time ago.

That's the thing, Britain has nothing to be proud of, but they are still too god damn proud.

That'd be quite a change. Well, at least Japan has a lot to offer in the form of distraction. Hope everything works out.

Basically sote (the healthcare reform) fell, government lost their trust and declared that they're stepping down. What followed was a public pity party of ''oh woe me I tried so hard even tho for years people were telling us this was a bad idea and now we've stepped down because it doesn't work isn't it amazing of us you can trust us''. Fun fact? Elections are coming, so basically they're just using the whole mess to get attention and get re-elected. Now the government has decided that the current leadership gets to continue doing their jobs because of how close the elections are.

Fortunately my wife has been teaching the girls Japanese in the event that we ever did have to move to Japan. And they love Japan. So there is that at least... + Not as if Japan is a horrendous country without any facilities.

Wtf... I'm surprised that my friend hasn't told me anything about that. But then I suppose its such a huge mess that she wouldn't want to.
