2012 was better, for me it's always the golden year of kpop. It's something i always compare every year of kpop to and nothing just lives up to it.

Why?

Debuts

Rivalry between three rookie boy groups and their fans (and everyone getting Busker Buskered at MAMA such iconic moment)

Debuts of some of my fav girl groups ever

+ although I didn't pay attention to these groups, also debuts of AOA, BTOB, Crayon Pop, EXID & VIXX - lot of big name groups debuted then.

Girls Generation decides to make best subunit ever and releases best subunit song ever

Big Bang decides that instead of disbanding and being dead (bitch u wished) they are ALIVE™ and had most epic comeback in comebacks of kpop

Even 2NE1 decided to come out from YG dungeon

miss A decided continuing being the feminist icons they are

No other year has had as amazing debuts, comebacks, and just in general music as 2012. :sakUwu:

I do agree that we had a lot more debut and a lot of better ones, but Also we had a lot of really good comebacks in 2011 iconic comebacks 2011.
Also it was the only year we got not just 1 but 2 f(x) comebacks.
Both TVX2 and JYJ released really good korean albums after their separation.
Infinite was able to save themselves from disbandment
T-ara was on the top of their game with their songs before the controversy
2NE1 had a ton of comebacks
Brown Eyed Girls finally got their epic comeback.

You're right with the iconic comebacks. 2012 was maybe more of marker of new era of kpop with all the debuts of the groups that later become huge. In some sense some comebacks although i enjoyed them a lot like miss A's I don't need a man or 2NE1's I love you weren't as big and iconic as some of their previous stuff. Though i gotta say Eletric Shock from f(x) was what made me by attention to them instead of Hot Summer and Danger, not sure what comeback was more iconic though.

And of course for me there is also personal enjoyment factor, lot of 2011 was clouded by Big bang's controversies when in 2012 that situation had passed and they had epic recovery- and i was more free to enjoy the other stuff kpop was giving as well.

I agree that 2012 was a mark of a new era. 2012 to me is the beginning of the 3rd gen of kpop. I 100% agree with the big bang thing but overall 2011 was still a better year for me, but 2012 is a close second music.

Um 2009 would like to have a word with you. Gee and Genie were released in that year. That alone destroys all the other years.
