How do you feel about people who ask this? What would you do if you were asked by your teacher/boss/etc...? Should the choice to turn on one's camera be their own, or not? Why?

I'd just turn It on, I'm more comfortable with face to face interaction otherwise I'll blank out from time to time.

For study and class related things, it would be more to strengthen the interaction and see if the student is paying attention, but you shouldn't be forced to regardless.

I ask usually to friends or aqquintances to face time cause it helps me relate emotionally and focus otherwise you get nothing from me but a coldness otherwise lol.
Im just a very face to face communicator.

Because they miss seeing you everyday. So I assume they want to still see you as much as they can even if it's digitally.

I put lotion onto my camera so it can be blurred

yeah .... we did have a vc back then and I recall many people joining. even those that usually don’t join vc’s. I think you definitely joined at first and then left.
