I’m glad she at least took it down and apologized. Like @Abeamus said in the other thread, I don’t think she actually holds those beliefs or even meant any harm. I just hope she doesn’t wear it again in public, to avoid any more outrage directed at her and general confusion. If she wants to wear a shirt to support the singer on it, I hold no strong opinions one way or the other as long as it’s one that’s more appropriate and doesn’t have any problematic imagery.

Chaeyoung is so far away from a conservative personality it almost makes it funny. She thought the shirts were cool, doubt there's much more too it than that, just an unfortunate situation

How would you NOT know that having a swastika on your shirt is bad?? There's really no excuse and you'd think JYP would teach their idols better. All companies really need to work better on education if they're going for audiences outside Korea :(

Well the thing is Korea and China had their hands full with Japan during World War 2 who were aligned with the Nazis at the time so I'd expect their education about World War 2 goes over that so likely they just think the Swastika is what it is originally from which was a symbol of peace which has been completely ruined since.

I remember seeing something about JYP talking about educating their idols in the past so the fact that this happened just shows they're full of it.

This is the 4th scandal about the Western side of World War 2 that I can remember although I do think the Sowon one exposed how much of a disconnect there was as when the article trended on Naver Koreans were confused where the issue was

Honestly this has happened so many times atp I'm convinced Korea focuses on their history with Japan in regards to WWII. They generally know what the Nazis were but not enough to notice things like this. And it doesn't help that the Nazi symbol is taken from Buddhism.

Pretty sure any public display not used for education purposes is highly frowned upon in Germany and I have doubts they'd care about it being "just a musician shirt".

It was not originally from Buddhism, it was around in India long before Buddhism
