I was looking at this earlier and talking with @ApinksBadPanda and @Selfmate about something related to this, but the sheer number of differences between the countries requirements is surprising to me. I’m a dual citizen since 14 years old, while my brother born 2 years after has been one since birth, but that’s only because both countries allow the dual citizenship, if we moved to Japan for some reason and got a Japanese citizenship I wouldn’t be a dual citizen while he could right now (not for long though). And ofc the numbers game of how many citizenships your parents need and what that means for your citizenship status, it’s kind of confusing :sanathink: I kind of want to know the record for most citizenships held now too.

Just one, US and I'm sure if they could they would revoke it. I'd love Korean or Japanese but would never give up my US citizenship to get it.

The US is like that meme. And you get a passport! And you get a passport! Like just being born there gives you one, and if not born there you still only need one parent to be a citizen :haylul: I’m a little interested if we went with the other option when moving if it would be easier or harder to get a dual. The questions on the American one were obscure but it’s not that hard to learn, so maybe the UK one would also be relatively easy

I remember once reading about a U.N. citizen ship, that is separate from a U.N. Passport but to get a U.N. citizen ship you had to be and do something pretty amazing for the U.N.

Romanian and Hungarian. I got my hungarian when i was in college. It required the birth certificates of my family til my grandparents or great grand parents (i dont remember for sure) and their wedding certificates. But yeah now i'm a dual citizen and i can vote in both countries.

What if your grandparents or great grandparents were dead and/or you didn’t have access to their certificates? :susPepe:

They were actually dead, by the time we applied only my father's mom was alive. Even if we dont have certificates there is always a family registry in our town xD

Oh, interesting. Sounds kind of inconvenient to me still to require that :haylul:

Well yeah, that was the requirement then , idk if it changed in the past 5 years
I’d be a little surprised if they did, that would be requiring effort and if their government is anything like the US they wouldn’t be a fan of that :coronawimwim:
