According to this Wikipedia article its population density is 33 people per square kilometer, which compared to its northern neighbor Kazakhstan is a lot, but not much compared to Uzbekistan (which has a population density of 192 per square kilometer). Being one of the least populated in Central Asia? Yes (it has around 7 million people, while Tajikistan has around 3 million AFAIK, and being slightly more mountainous.)
