Does your taste within Kpop match your taste in music outside of Kpop?

Like if you listen to really upbeat music in Kpop do you look for that in other music or no?

For me I personally feel like I go to kpop for upbeat and cute songs but when I listen to other music
I usually look for more angsty music. Slower songs with meaningful lyrics.
Or music with great instrumentals because I really love rock music or punk.
I think in Kpop I focus more on vocals and music.
Where with English and other places I focus more on meaning.

I listen to hip hop/more chill stuff outside of kpop but in general I go to Jpop/Jrock/Kpop for my upbeat stuff because it's better to me in those countries than it is in Western music

This is a sample of my music taste outside of kpop....

I grew up listening to rock and metal and I still listen to it to this day alongside kpop.... (I also listen to a lot of Euro trance, Eminem and 80's & 90's music)

I really don’t listen to much outside of Kpop if I do it’s just Christian music which I normally listen to upbeat or super slow songs so I don’t think it’s super different.

The only kpop group I ever stanned was Dreamcatcher by the time they released hard rock/metal on their title songs; so I'd say yes, it matches. Now that DC doesn't do that, I don't stan.

I'll sound very critical because I'm starting to feel quite indifferent to kpop nowadays.

I like songs which have a beautiful melody and good voices, with a melancholic feel. However not something too slow and sugary like a ballad....But in Kpop I can appreciate a little more funky songs (even if they are not my thing) and the dark/emo concepts. Electronic music doesn't bother me at all. I love it ! But I'm really not a fan of Rnb and voices who are too high-pitched, too sugary, too cute, and the repetitive same "I'm cool" formula applied in performance. So I have a hard time liking many kpop songs released nowadays with many groups, especially when they have not a true melody or that the structure of the song seems so incredibly weird. I also wish they focus more on bringing the emotion in what they perform. It is becoming incredibly robotic for me to the point I think I'll soon leave the genre.
