Completed my 2 week holiday trip to Seoul, South Korea + attending my first ever concert for the first time! (1 Viewer)

It has always been my dream since I was a teen to travel to Korea, even if it meant to travel solo. Now here I am many years later finally able to afford and book for the flight tickets to travel and stay there from early this December until 2 days ago (I’ve returned back in Australia yesterday).

The main reason why I initially wanted to go was to attend my ult group’s fancon which is golden child (in case some or most of y’all don’t know) and since I’ve never attended a concert before, and as someone who has been a huge fan of them for years, the group means so much to me & holds a special place in my heart. So I thought why not head to Seoul to attend their fancon there? And see what the experience of being at a concert would be like, and if it’s actually worth experiencing/attending it?

Ngl I did have a bit of anxiety/worries at first and even thought of wanting to cancel my tickets, but after receiving some encouragement from the people I’ve trust, I’ve finally decided keep my seat reservations & officially attend!!
I was able to attend both nights of the fancon, and the experience was absolutely worth it!! I’ve had the best time seeing all the members in person & watching them perform and play/do some games/challenges on stage in front of my eyes. I have tons of photos and vids that I took at the fancon on both days thankfully :3 thankfully and luckily, I didn’t get any post concert depression. And mannnn they all look even more breathtaking, stunning, and hot in person

Also, I’m pretty sure Donghyun made eye contact with me at one point whilst they were all walking on both sides of the stage to wave to us towards the end of their concert on day 2 as I saw it clearly through the lenses of my glasses that he did O.O

Additionally, I even thought of staying in Seoul for a couple of days just to attend the concert, but then after that I thought of also wanting to explore the city and some places there, hence why I decided to officially book my trip there for 2 weeks, as I knew I was gonna regret missing out in seeing all the amazing stuff and places that they have there if I only chose to stay there for at least a couple of days to a week

Some of my highlights regarding this trip are:
1. the fancon (obviously)

2. The various street foods especially from Myeongdong - I’ve tried a couple of different street foods & they all tasted so good - I would have to say my most fav ones would definitely be the bunggeopang, hotteok (with the honey or the red bean flavour in it), the potato corn dog (idk if it’s actually called that but whatever lol)

3. Myeongdong (in general) — this has become my most fav area/place to go to in Seoul & it is one of the widely touristy areas along with Hongdae & I think Gangnam as well?

4. The foods that they sell at convenient stores including some healthy options to choose from — they even sell a packet of gimbap (Korean sushi) there which I’ve find so convenient and worth getting <3

5. The subway stations. It takes like maybe 5 mins ish or so(?) to get from one train station to another which I actually like as someone like myself who likes exercising & getting fit. The escalators and the stairs in these train stations are quite long too. Hence, the public transport (touch on and off ticket) fees there are much cheaper than the ones here in Australia. Some or most of the train stations even have some clothes shops, convenience stores & some restaurants/cafes/bakery shops etc. inside.

6. The cities and the public transport there are so clean

7. The nightlife — throughout my time there, I would usually go out shopping even to very big shops/malls during the evenings/nighttimes

8. The prices for most items (not just for the clothes tho)— when I went to the Myeongdong underground train station area (where a lot of the clothes shops are) the prices for a lot of the clothes that are sold within most of these shops were on discount — hence why I was able to get myself a fair amount of clothes as they(all the ones I’ve bought from there) were all on discount for 10,000 won (around $6.90 USD / around $11 AUD)

9. The clothes there look more appealing imo duh cause korea style >>>>>>

10. Even though I wasn’t able to experience any snow yet, I was able to experience a little bit of snow (that looked like those little white droplets) while I was out in the late afternoon & evening just this Monday. You can see in this bag that I got from Daiso there, they looked like this

Overall, booking my trip to Seoul and even travelling solo was the best decision that I’ve ever made for this year, and even better that I was able to book the trip during nearly towards the end of the year (in December). Although, there were some challenges I’ve faced and have had to experience/dealt with (including the language barrier) throughout my whole trip, however, the pros still outweigh the cons — & doesn’t change the fact that I still had an enjoyable and fun time travelling solo & being in Korea!

i stayed there for 2 weeks so I would say 50-50 since 2 weeks didn't really seem that long, but it wasn't so short either. Most of the people there I've met were quite/pretty nice I would say :)

i buy lots of Cd's and love finding the small stores.

Ngl it was pretty frustrating for me to deal with having ppl keep on talking to me in a language I don’t understand - as I either usually would have to respond with in English “I don’t understand (this language)” or “huh?”
Though what I did find actually helpful in terms of the language barrier for such situations e.g. if I wanna ask an employee something, is to show them the English to their native language translation on the Papago app. I’ve find that method to be the best way for me to get through that struggle

Myeongdong is definitely my go-to area in Seoul. Everytime I go there especially in the late afternoon/evening the vibes were always there and I love it

Clever!! It's nice that we have these tools these days to at least get close enough to deal with the language barrier.

I'd love to get a full-time remote job and then travel, so I'll keep in mind that option if that works out for me!
