South Korea has become second country with most Corona infections after huge rise of contagions in city of Daegu. The Corona viruses infections have doubled in country, since in Thursday confirmed infections were around 100 when they are now in Friday 200 and it's likely more is to come. One of major infection hubs has been Shincheonji's church's (well technically cult's) ceremony where one infected named as Patient No. 31 (doesn't the naming make it sound like zombie movie or sth) is believed to have spread the virus, but the numbers kinda vary on this from new source to other one says that 500 members of the said cult have had symptoms, but one says that 30 members who have attended have been confirmed to be infected with Corona and around 100 has symptoms. So maybe the larger number is people who potentially have been infected in another ceremonies. The numbers will probably keep changing as well so don't take them as facts.

Nevertheless varying numbers, the numbers of infected have doubled overnight and officials have told to people to avoid going outside in Daegu which has turned city into ghost town. It remains to be seen if the virus will spread even more in SK, but it's quite likely since one person can infect even hundred others- so the numbers can keep rising exponentially. For South Korea this probably means that lot of bigger events will be cancelled in order to prevent another large outbreak, which could mean that lot of kpop events will get cancelled as well. Not the biggest issue ofc, but since it's kpop forum thought to mention.

Thing that sucks about Corona is you don't have to have symptoms to be a carrier. So while someone is feeling fine and perky they are going around effecting people. People being humans don't think wisely that maybe it's best to quaritine or limit ones explore for nearly a month.

Another thing that sucks about Corona is getting it does not mean your not going to end up with a R2. So once a person recovers there can be that false sense of security. For example with the flu after you recover you become more resistant.

With everyone living in dorms and having shared events and shows and being its own community, if it penetrates it could spread quickly through the close knit kpop network affecting huge numbers.

I worry about the whole population too. But since we're a kpop forum. Think of all the emotional attachments our whole international community has to so many idols and groups.

At the moment I don't think it's contained in SK since these news of members of the cult getting infected is rather new and since so many were infected they likely have been going around spreading the virus to their families and even in people in buses and markets etc. So I expect South Korea's numbers to rise a lot. At the moment they are trying to limit it by asking people to say inside etc., but with those who are already infected it won't rly help. I wonder how drastic measures they will take, I doubt South Korea would do same as China and straight up quarantine whole city. Still who knows.

I feel like I'm still pretty lucky in my country, at the moment getting flu is the only concern. There has been just 1 coronavirus case and it didnt' spread to others thankfully. But I have seen lot of news of China where the situation is really bad especially in Wuhan area. Japan and South Korea seems to be in trouble as well with the virus, though not as much yet.

That's why they need to start cutting events and shows, there is just high risks of virus spreading to both fans and idols. And you can get quite easily whole group infected if one gets virus from somewhere.

South Korea have started taking some measures. I read somewhere (think it was twitter) that soldiers aren’t allowed to leave their stations until it’s contained. Like others have said though, they really need to cancel the music shows. If major events can be cancelled at short notice, they can cancel the shows and just announce the winners online.

SK is taking measures but goddamn trump said no to a private plane to carry back infected from Japan. Instead the people infected from Japan got flew back in a box yes, but with non infected passengers. The virus can be contained it's just a matter of stopping some stupid decisions.

And for you guys who are worried DO NOT wear your shoes in your house. Disinfect your soles with bleach when you get home if you are worried. Of course wearing gloves which seems to be the best bet period. Glove wearing. While we know the virus to now be airborne most cases are through contact and recent surgestions being most of it fecal matter.
