It's been 12 years I'm into kpop and all I'll say is it's the saddest, most miserably toxic and pretentious fandom I've been part of. Everyone is so quick to jump the hate train like a bunch of sheeps. They all preach about mental health and wanting the industry to change but two seconds later will absolutely trash any idols that doesn't fit their high pedastal standards. Was Le sserafim Coachella performance bad? It wasn't their best imo. But the reactions are overexagerated and I blame Hybe for pretty much setting them up. They didn't seem ready at all.

this also often bothers me... I can't understand how it makes sense to many fans to behave in this manner, like what they say and what they do is always the exact opposite

Not really. People who are like that genuinely suck. Valid criticism is okay and encouraged in my opinion, but some of the comments these girls have received are far from constructive.

yeah its all very dishonest sadly.. like for ILLIT I also saw that complaint "they are popular because of visuals", like people cannot even comprehend that they are doing well because they have a really fun and catchy song people enjoy

true! besides, r u next was pretty popular (as far as i've seen) and HYBE is a succesful company so it makes sense for them to be popular too. when New Jeans debuted, toxic fans said they were clinging off of BTS' fame. now that ILLIT debuted, toxic fans say they're clinging off New Jeans' fame?? can't a group just be succesful??

I understand what you mean and I'm sure you are right for the most part, but when like in this example the situation is so out of control that the members like Sakura feel the need to make public statements on it too, it's not like you can just avoid a specfic site and especially if it goes on for so long on now (almost 2 month at this point)

Yeah there's a reason you don't see other groups acknowledge it and it's not because they don't see it, it's because companies know not to feed them but I guess Source has lost their marbles under Hybe as Gfriend got tons of hate but they never made a statement about the hate unless it was an actual controversy. You don't need to acknowledge anything if there truly isn't a problem because there's nothing to acknowledge and the moment you do the result you won't see is the hate stopping and they'll either let people know the hate bothers them or just make them angry and even more hateful both increasing the vitriol they let loose so there's no upside to hate being acknowledged.
