But ofc there’s differences for men and women because why not
For women, the crime is adultery. For men, its concubinage.
Like I’m all for not cheating but why the differences. Cheating is cheating. By these laws, it seems that men can’t be changed for cheating if they don’t cohabitate with the other person that they’re cheating with and if the sexual encounter isn’t “scandalous” enough? Like I think cheating is scandalous already, so wouldn’t any sexual encounter with another person that wasn’t okayed by the wife be a crime here? Doesn’t sound like it

- What is needed to be found guilty: for men accusing women of adultery, they need to prove that his wife and another dude had sex. The other man will receive the punishment if he knew she was married. Each sexual encounter is a separate crime.
- Women and their partners receive between 2 years, 4 months, and 1 day to 6 years prison time.
- For men involved in concubinage, the wife needs to prove that either he and the partner had sex under “scandalous circumstances” or had sex and cohabitated anywhere. Each act is not a separate crime, it’s just one.
- Men would receive between 6 months and one day to 2 years 4 months jail time. The “mistress” gets a restraining order for some number of years.
