It's kind of hard to explain, but this something I've experienced since I was younger. For me I usually associate letters, numbers, days of the week, and even years with various colors.

For example -
- 2014 was purple
- 2015 was red
- 2016 was blue
- 2017 was orange

- A is red
- B is blue
- C is yellow
- D is green

Do anyone else do this?

not really, but sometimes I do find it easier to express conceptual thoughts via colours instead of, well, actually describing it

Yes. Like how red means no/wrong/stop and green means correct/go/okay. Yellow means warning/beware/slow. I also associate candy with colors. Like the reds are obviously going to be strawberry or cherry and etc.
