Kind of. I’m pretty mature for my age, so I tend to hangout with people who are a bit older than I am. But I have friends who are 13 or 14, so in a sense it doesn’t matter. As long as they’re nice!

My thoughts are similar to that of @Darkseid and @eclipsoul with the only difference being that I think with online friendships that if a friend is really young that interactions should be limited to threads and profile posts. I do not find it appropriate for a 13-17 year old to be chatting via PM with someone who is much older, as there would be no safeguards.

IRL, it would depend. There are a lot of people in college who are 17 and developing a friendship would be natural. But for certain age demographics I think friendships would be weird. And that goes past the protection of children and to the fact that individuals who are, lets say, 28 years old would not have a lot in common with a 11 year old.

I am 28 and not exactly that mature for my age. I also have similar taste to what a teenager would like also. I have friends that are near my parents' age. I also have friends that are still in their late teens.

ehm a bit? I mean I wouldn't really call a friend a 10yo kid :wimwim: we need pretty much same maturity or common interests to actually be friends for real

When it comes to friends, no. I could care less about age, it's about their character and values.
But when it comes to dating, I absolutely care about age. If they aren't the same age as me, I view them as a "younger/older sibling figure" or something like that, so I can't imagine dating them.

Not particularly, matching maturity levels and common interests will work well regardless.

I would say the friendship type may defer, if I were to be friends with someone younger than 18, so I be very wary of how open our conversations are and of course specific subjects would probably be avoided for comfort and legality of those underage.
Although anything under 13 is more difficult to navigate a friendship with considering my age, it come more a mentor relationship or role model type than a traditional 'talk shit with your friends' type of friendship.
And I can't be friends with a baby, so there is limitations on the lower end, but on the the higher end its not much of a problem.

Not really. Most of my friends here are younger than me anyways so it doesn't really bother me. As long they're mature enough and we can have good conversations together then I'm fine with them being a bit older or younger

I've always had friends that were 1-3 years younger than me. Now it doesn't really matter but when we were younger I did notice a lot more differences its strange that so few years could change that much lol.

I have friends the same age as me now though who still act 15 so I think it just depends on the person
