Or just anything related to true crime like documentary series, articles, etc… I love watching Eleanor Neales videos (she does true crime cases), still trying to watch all of them actually. So I’ll binge watch her videos and then later realize I’m being extra hyper aware of everything. I’ve always been a very paranoid and anxious person and constantly be on the lookout for axe murderers (I wish I was joking). But after watching her videos I think of every situation I’m in turning into some crazy person trying to kill me and me trying to plan out how I would try to defend myself, leave blood or fingerprints for people to know that I was the one being hurt, etc, etc…

So does anyone else have similar reactions after watching those kind of things?

i try to avoid them, i don't think it would do good for me :nekosweat:
Yeah I’ve thought about not watching them anymore but I’ve always been really into true crime so I usually just binge watch a few and then give myself a few days without so I don’t get too stressed with it. :yolk:

Honestly, if someone did try to do something like that, they would likely have left a mass amount of DNA evidence behind. A lot of killers are woefully inept and will not anticipate what is involved in cleanup after a murder. For those who do try to dispose of a body through fire or dismemberment they often do not have an adequate knowledge of the work it would take to actually do either adequately; so odds are there would be enough evidence left behind if you were murdered.

Plus, looking at crime stats may put your mind at ease depending on what content you are watching. A great deal of crime is not committed against strangers.. and there tend to be events that precipitate murder and violent crime that predicts later violence. I could psychoanalyze this by elaborating how I feel much violent crime [especially that which does not end in death] is rooted in one's relationship with their early childhood and guardians, I won't since perhaps I think that would be a major digression. But individuals with an Antisocial Personality Disorder [what are colloquially known as Sociopaths and Psychopaths] are not common and only a small sub-set of those diagnosed with such are violent criminals. Hope this will dispel some of your anxiety.

But if you think it is having that much of an impact on your thought process I would advise that you stop watching such content.

Same, I used to listen to true crime podcasts but I’ve stopped because I would be too anxious and the stories are just really sad sometimes
