I was just playing the 1D Amazon station on my Alexa during my shower when the question came up. What do you use it for, if you do have one?

I'm never going to understand actively choosing to let an Amazon AI passively listen to you. I disable all that stuff to the best of my ability.

yeah, they're useful... you can ask her to set alarms and stuff. I won't get too much into it, but yeah, anything you ask, she'll answer. kinda like having a talking Google

lots of my co workers have them. but its funny one of them is names Alexis... and so in meetings sometimes someone will have to tell alexa to be quiet...

To be fair they do seem useful in an office, I just wouldn't want one in my home because I'm paranoid. My phone is probably listening to me despite my efforts anyway.. You ever get an ad for something obscure that you just talked about? I like how at first it was all like "Oh no, you subconsciously searched for it!" and now it's like an open secret that electronics do listen for keywords. It's all about advertising, we live in a world where active e-mails, phone numbers and peoples preferences are worth a lot of money to big corporations. That said, nobody is likely to be taking notes on your personal life (it's just an AI trying to figure out what you might buy, lol) but it's the fact that they could.

I don't think it's necessary to take it as seriously as I do, it's just a moral thing and while I don't think you were overly serious I hope you won't let it put a damper on something you enjoy. I'm totally cool with other people enjoying Alexa/AI but it's also good to be aware of what it might be doing.
