Do you Live in a Stand-your-ground or Duty-to-retreat state/country?

Basically, are you entitled by Law as a citizen to use lethal force to defend your home? Or, do you have to retreat?

I realize that in most states, it's the case, but some elaborate differently on the matter:

In Texas, the "castle doctrine" allows the use of deadly force against an intruder if you have a reasonable belief that the intrusion is happening unlawfully and with force, and the intruder is committing or attempting to commit certain serious crimes, like murder or robbery.

Yes we also have castle doctrine for both home and vehicle.
If you feel in danger is pretty much the threshold in such places.

down under we do have self-defence laws but one of the key tenents is the reasonableness of the force being used in self-defence...

I know other places do too, I just thought you assumed they were from the US because you mentioned states in that quote. But my apologies if I misinterpreted that.

People can try to stop the attack, like forcing assailant to drop the knife if they try to attack you with it. But if person hurts in any way the attacker, the victim will be also breaking the justifiable self defense law.
And using a gun or knife against the assailant will also be seen as a crime.
Also shop keepers can't tackle a thief or they will be also breaking the justifiable self defence law.

We also are not allowed to carry a weapon or even pepper spray with us for self defense. You need a permit for the pepper spray for it to be legal to carry

Also goes for police officers. Even when the police uses a gun or hurts the criminal in any other way. They will be trialed and the case has to be investigated if the police officer also broke the justifiable self defense law.
